You listed "facts" as you see them. They are not actual FACTS. Therefore, pointless to rebut. I still stand on the FACT that you do not actually know what you are trying to argue. You do not know what it is like to actually manage or own a trucking company, and be responsible for Hiring, Firing, Maintenance, Safety, and lastly TURNING A PROFIT while still paying your employees a fair wage.
Have I lost touch with this industry?

In the end it's a shift in the work culture that probably will only get worse ($15/hr to flip burgers???) And TruckDuo, while you do a very good job of communicating how the modern drivers sees it, you're not seeing it from our perspective and don't realize how incredibly self-centered and entitled the new attitudes are compared to the attitudes of prior generations. Once, we thought we had to earn the rewards and respect that came with hard work, now it's expected that the respect and rewards be handed out, and then maybe the worker might consider giving his full ability. It's the "everybody is a winner" mindset drilled into kids these days. Once they've grown up, they just can't comprehend they've been fed a load of manure, and still try to cling to that mentality. Without raising the ire of the mods, its a socialist, if not Communist way of thinking.

Kansas is asking about how to attract top talent. Drivers with experience, who know how to do their job, take care of the equipment and make the customer happy. Sounds like some of you guys are talking more about the bad apples of the driver pool.
Hammer, I do understand your perspective. I grew up in a household of self-employed business owners. Been working since I was 16 and from when I was in college until I got into trucking I always had two jobs. Got through college working two full time jobs and happy to report when I graduated I never had any student loans to pay back. Would put my time in my corporate America job during the day then take the suit off and go manage a retail business. I've seen both sides. The whole process to attract top talent and weed out the bad ones is not easy. Your gonna have hits and misses. You have to remain flexibile. Just go look at the swift threads, all the drivers are having a fit because of driver cams. Yet there are jobs like these available, none of them will ever apply because its to much "work". They like not having to think for themselves and drop and hook.... lord forbid they actually have to do a pretrip...
Then they go start a thread about low wages.

I could never understand leaving money on the table. If there's more to make, I'm grabbing it. Call me "money hungry", but I'm out here for one reason and one reason only. Money. I do enjoy what I do. Don't get me wrong. But it's all about what is going in my wallet. These guys who want to do as little as possible and are happy with the bare minimum freak me out.
