My dad has a 2007 Freightliner Century. Last night he started his truck and drove about 3 feet then all his power steering fluid dumped out. he stopped the truck and called a mechanic. They came out and add power steering fluid to the truck to find were the leak was, and nothing came out, he then drove 2 miles to make sure and still nothing came out still. He went and parked the truck and we are waiting for the mechanic to look at it again during the day light. Anyone have any ideas how this could happen.

leaks in power steering leak when pressure applied. turn the wheel all the way back and forth should reveal where the leak is coming from. there is a cut somewhere in the hose & when driving straight, without turning it will not leak no where near as much, as when turning & pressure is put on the hoses & finds the weak spot, either break in hose or at fitting somewhere. I hope this helps. let us know what ya find. good luck.

It is a common problem that happens after the winter months.
The seals all round the truck in winter get smaller and tighter to the shafts and may wear a bit more in really cold climate areas. And it was really cold in some areas this year.
When the weather starts warming up the seals start to expand with the warm weather.
The seals may move and may have wore into the shafts from spaces or cracks in the seals and then the fluid starts running.
Could be hard line problem going to the main components and the movement of the line could of sealed the leak.
Even a bit of dirt or rust could have stopped the leak, for now.
Power steering stop leak may fix the problem for now but it will leak again.
Keep checking all the seals on the truck for leaks, you want no unexpected surprises. -
They came back out and checked everything. All the hoses are tight and they ran a test and no leaks were found. It's just so weird, it dumped a couple of quarts all at once after moving 3 feet, but now its doesn't have even a drop coming out. Test drove it and its all worked fine. The mechanic said it's the weirdest thing he's ever seen.
