Yea I've got approved for maverick it was just they had me on a waiting list and said there wouldn't be an opening until June that's why I was looking at Prime since they have orientation each week Maverick only takes 7-12 people at a time that's why theres a waiting list...but hearing that from recruiter I'll just wait it out for maverick.

Most drivers that leave do that. They belong to you and you can do as you wish with them.
Prime has random and 90 day cleanliness inspections of all the company trucks to try and keep them well taken care of. Prime also has a requirement that you do take care of the truck with washing it at least twice a month, keep it clean inside and making sure it's well maintained. As with any big company, it doesn't always happen like the policy states.
Prime does pay you for orientation once you complete it. They'll pay for your travel to orientation (I would recommend flying instead of riding the dog. Prime will cover up to the cost of dog ticket. If you book it far enough out it shouldn't cost you more then few bucks out of pocket to get there.), they put you up in a hotel room, and feed you 3 meals a day while you are there. Once you pass everything and get hired on at Prime, they'll pay you for your time in orientation. I just remembered, they only pay you if you already have a CDL and are coming over as an A seat driver.

My recomendation is research both companies and find out what fits your long term plans better. I know I love working at Prime, but I'm on the reefer side. Speaking of the reefer side, you had mentioned earlier about grocery centers being a pain. I would no more then 10% of the customers I deal with are a pain in the buzz. Because of the detention clause and rate Prime has built into most of the contracts, our customers want to get us in and out ASAP so they don't get fined.

I wish you the best of luck on which company you choose. Just take your time in finding what fits you the best and don't just chase the dollar.

    Good Luck,

You are very much welcome. I try to spread as much accurate info about Prime as possible. Both good and bad :)

You going in with previous experience or brand new to the industry?

They won't show you that on the website. When I started with Prime they paid me what was called the smart start pay since I came over with experience and didn't have to get my CDL through them. Basically they guarenteed you like $1,300 a week for the first 3 weeks. That a pay was retroactive to monday of orientation once you were hired on. If you get there and they bounce you, you won't get paid for that week. At least that's how it was for me when I started here last June. Even then they told me I wouldn't get paid for that week of orientation. Ask your recruiter if they still do the smart start or if there is a guarenteed amount you'll get for the first 3 weeks.

Where exactly on their website does it say they do not pay for orientation?Far as not paying for tarps,I think you may have misunderstood.I never heard of a company not paying for the tarps. If that was the case then Prime should not receive any of the tarping fee to tarp loads..I think what your recruiter may have meant is it you lose or your tarp or any other equipment gets stolen you'll have to pay for new stuff.

Pattyj, go troll some place else. You obviously can't seem to read because that question was answered previously.
