Well said. I'd post my numbers, but they are fabricated to suit me, and not Uncle Sam. I've found places to cut me "inflated" receipts that get mixed in with the real ones, and I can't even tell them all apart. Nor do I want to add up real numbers with tax numbers because the difference is a wash. I also add up all my personal vehicle receipts and others I can crunch together. Whenever I'm with a friend that buys something I could swing "trucking related" I ask them for their receipt. Just helps come tax time.
I make way more as a company driver with the wonderful option of, I don't want to work this month because there is white stuff on the ground. I don't make a fortune, but I don't work that hard for what I make. I've essentially doubled what I made working 9-5 at a warehouse, and like the freedom. Well, I like the freedom right up to the moment DOT is looking my way. Then I just smile and nod and pray to baby Jesus. -
Another question I have is what is the difference between leased to and owner op would I need all my own numbers lc mc dot ect. What's a rough price for all this stuff and lic for a tractor trailer set up to run 80k
-
I'd lump leased to and O/O in the same category. If you get your own numbers you get the prestigious title of Independent.
I pay 35% of the line haul for "all that stuff," includes my trailer rental and a big blue glass of koolaide.OONewbie and dannythetrucker Thank this. -
But! I'd have to separate out lease operators who lease a truck and lease to a carrier. These guys get their own special category.OONewbie Thanks this.

Not smelling what you stepped in on your last post.
Right now I want to save up enough money to pick up a decent w9a or 359 and pay cash for it and up grade it as I have the money I don't want to have a loan over my head and I don't wanna buy a total rat nest also I know a few local people one has hopper other has skate boards and I would be leased under them they said because of broker lic. Or something didn't really ask them many questions about it
The way things are going I'm hoping to have about 300 ac. Of farm land under a land contract hopefully that's been in the family for some time I would cash crop that and haul my own grain and such in harvest seasons then just do semi local runs the rest of the year. I'm not looking to make millions just to provide for my family -
If your thinking a w-9 or a 359 I'm sure others on here as well as myself would agree your already ahead of most.

Well I came to pick one of those because they are older parts for the motor and trans if you get a 3406 or cummins parts would be easy to come by susp parts and stuff I get also I have stretched a few trucks most used a Hendrick walking beam because of the use on a farm with hills and air ride leaned too much. I want to beable to do my own work
-
3406 is a very good working motor. There are others out there with great pulling power, but the 3406 can be fixed with a wrench and a screw driver which makes it a winner for me.

Yeah I ran a few binders with b modles in them I likes them the one was turned up a good bit never took the time to figure out my mileage with them though
