Get the total on that insurance, that is whats going to hammer the deal. If you have to pay $10,000.00 or more a year insurance on top of the 15%, your losing. :banghead:

85% of linehaul and 100% of fuel and any acessorial charges sounds fair ...... Not just 85% of "gross" they will find ways to actually pay him lower ..... And as stated get the insurance cost up front

85% of line haul and 100% of fuel keep dreaming that comes out to way over 100% they company wouldn't get squat no company gives 85% plus 100% fuel

85% of gross with them paying the cargo and liability insurance without you paying everything else is a fair deal its still better then what you will get with most carriers i would take it. now if you have to pay liability and cargo insurance run away fast and don't look back

    A. Thats why on the surface imo its not a good deal

    B. Why should a carrier take 15% of fuel? Why should they take 15% of stop offs detention pay or any additional incentives offered to a contractor

    C. Let me know how that works out for you ...... I will wait

well obviously your not a carrier or you would understand it isnt 15% of fuel or stop offs 15%total fuel surcharges dont really exist between a broker and carrier its a flat rate 15% of gross is not alot to the carrier my loads average about $5000 a week thats $750 a week is the gross amount the carrier gets now the carrier is looking at making $550 a week after insurance is paid and they still have to account for trailer maint and tires out of that 1 blow out and carrier looses money on all loads that week. plus are you going to pay all your fuel in advanced the carrier does plus your running under there numbers putting the company at risk. what if there is an accident and god forbid you kill someone the carrier will be held liable not the owner operator. the idea of leasing onto a company is so both the owner operator and the company make money alot of the owner operators ive seen have that mentality that they should get 120% of the gross it doest work that way everyone needs to make money. if they have a problem with that i say get your own authority and then see how tough things really are $600-$800 insurance payment every month on top of a whole lot more expenses or a $750 a week carrier cut

Well obviously you dont have direct freight or you would bill your customers a line haul rate and a fuel surcharge .... So keep working for brokers that solicit the lowest rate from carriers and think that $5000 a week is setting the world on fire. I have had my own authority and I know for a fact that if you dont have direct shippers you are going to want to fire every driver that cuts into your bottom line.....again I will wait
