As posted earlier, there are all types and all ages of drivers that SHARE the roads with all of us. Many are tired, angry ,frustrated, bored, drunk/high, texting, on the phone,----whatever. At the time of the video, the box driver could be starting out half awake/half dreading the rest of what's to come, or just coming in from a very long hard night.
Some trucks, like the box truck, have very shaky mirrors that make it hard to quickly determine which lane the headlights in the mirror are actually in and if any turn signals are going on other vehicles.
Looks to me like the 'bright-lighting' may have spooked the driver (maybe a tired Grandma) into thinking they overlooked a vehicle to the right and were trying to avoid hitting a vehicle they didn't see, thus turning back into YOUR lane. I think if the truck driver really had any ill intentions you would have seen a more aggressive driving behavior on their part. I think they were startled or confused (spooked) by the lights and horn.
As far as YOUR lane is concerned, you only have control of the traffic behind you--that's all. YOUR lane was not completely cleared by the truck-- it was still his/her lane. You were driving aggressively and I think you really know that. Had there been an accident, a lawyer would have had a field day and laughed all the way to the bank----with YOUR money.
The roads belong to all of us and we must SHARE them. When we ask who is at FAULT, it really doesn't matter when you need a ladder to pick turnips. Don't think many lawyers accept turnips as retainers these days either.
Thanks for your post, aeon. You'll get honest opinions here. We all make mistakes on the road. Aggressive driving is one we can avoid, and the most dangerous next to DUI. Chill out. Being a few minutes late is always better than being absent forever.

In our world if you flash your lights at me it means its safe to come over. I didnt see the video but read what happened. Im with everyone else. Slow down. Try driving a uhaul or pensie truck and then see if you complain.

The guy in box truck only has side mirrors to rely on to see what is going on, this is why he took his time moving over, making sure he does not hit someone.
Given the mirrors shakes, it's dark, there are other cars around, he had to keep his eye on one slightly ahead of him with 4 way flashers on, another car incoming in right lane from behind him.

Because he was moving over to another lane, he likely thought the headlight and subsequent honking at him were from the center lane and that he was about to hit someone.

You aeon should go drive a truck on busy hwy at night and then if you survive the experience, come back here to comment. Make sure the truck has no back window, just a big whole box behind.

Here is a little advice. If you are going to drive like that, get rid of the camera.

aeon "...I still don't see how that justified him intentionally trying to run me off the road ..."

Have you ever scene a (road debris) steel cord wrap around a tire while in motion. Myself, i've observed that specific event: an SUV, run over a steel tire cord in the roadway, in an instant seizing the tires motion, then flipping the SUV over several times, The SUV driven by what appeared to be a Dr. whom was thrown out from his vehicle while his SUV continued to roll over his body. (intense pain ). Avoid the debris in the road, side collisions are far easier to mitigate damage by comparison...just remain vigilant.

The car is in the wrong. He flew up the trucks arse even though they could see clearly that vehicles were merging. He put his high beams on and the truck, stupidly, turn into the car.

The left lane was merging into one, the truck had been indicating and had right of way to change lanes. You should have slowed down, let him merge in front of you, then when safe to do so, you could have over taken the truck in the right lane.

He shouldnt have tried to push you out the way as you were driving on the left, eventually on the shoulder. That was a ####### stupid thing to do, he could have caused a nasty accident of you slowed down or got hit by him.

    General rule is:
When merging, the vehicle in front has right of way, all vehicles behind must give way and merge, whilst indicating, when safe to do so.

Think of a merging lane like a zipper, we should all be able to merge together and maintain a decent speed.

You were in the wrong to begin with, but his stupidity of trying to rock you or scare you was pretty dumb.

We are only humans, we all make mistakes.

OK, just watched again. It wasnt a meging lane, but like others said, if you slowed down you could have let him change lanes and overtook him in the left lane. He was indicating and you knew he was changing to the centre lane, but you tried to get in to the centre lane before him and overtake. He may have been ###### that no one was letting him in and your high beams and horn would of pissed him off and he stupidly retaliated by changing back in front of you and trying to push you into the shoulder or scare you.

He's not a truck drivers arsehole.

The thing here is about sharing the road, let him change lanes and overtake when safe. Were you in that much of a hurry that you couldnt slow down and let him in?

Hope the merging info helped anyhow..

Winner. Video shows a car preparing to make an illegal pass on the shoulder.

Had something similar happen to me, and the car got put into a wall. The officer wrote the car a driving award.

Speaking of awards, Darwin's theory states that stupid people are supposed to die before they breed (protects the herd). We just wish that if you were going to kill yourselves that you didn't do it in traffic.
