Wow... This thread is still going.

Women being treated poorly at truck stops?
I think it is an exception more than anything else, but I don't recall the crap that went on in the 70's since I came back on the road a number of years ago.mickimause Thanks this. -
I think the only thing you will have to worry about is walking in the truckstop parking lot at night in a dress and high heels.

These threads don't happen often, but they are always interesting when they do. I'm LGBT friendly. But I always often wonder about stuff like this. Trucking has every imaginable personality, political stripe, religion, race, creed, color, etc. And some how, some way, we all seem to be able to leave each other alone for the most part. Sure that we have some #######es here and there, but everything goes pretty smoothly considering. We also have a number of gay drivers out here. Even transgendered ones. Some obvious, some not.
I guess I'm trying to say, OP, is nobody cares. It's almost like the fact that you need to tell people that you're a chick instead of a dude is more important than the job itself. Trust me. Nobody is looking for you. Of course you'll have people that have a problem with your gender identity. Don't engage them about it. Leave it alone. When you bring attention to it, that's when it becomes an issue. If you just walk through life and let well enough alone, nobody cares. See what I mean? It's almost like asking to be "first banana" in the melting pot of trucking.Badcable, ErikaJSpangler and "semi" retired Thank this. -
I don't think I would know if I saw another transsexual truck driver. Isn't that the point? They live and act as a certain gender? I don't go around conducting background investigations. If they present as a woman, then they're a woman. If they present as a man, they're a man. Most of us want to move freight down the road safely, put a few bucks in the bank, and get back home to our families. As long as you do the same, what you have chosen to do with your life doesn't matter to me. Spend more time worrying about polishing up your skills, and less time worrying about how you'll be "received".
