Hi all. I'm looking for any information regarding National Carriers since I'll be going to orientation in Irving, Texas next Monday for southwest regional. Anyone working there now, or have previously? Are they a good decent company? I'm starting there as a company driver not to lease.

lots and lots of waiting at meat plants i hope your not grossed out by the wind blowing a constant stench of cow manure at you for hours, trust me you get used to it, it does get into your clothes, truck tho.
-
That'll take some getting used to. Do you know anything about the pay etc
-
I knew some guys that were leased there many many years ago they ran hard and made good money..
Now they are no different than any other starter company that leases trucks to people who don't know any better..
You'll learn to hate hauling boxed meat and everything that goes with it...
Sorry I can't paint a better picture but it is what it is.. -
How much experience does a company driver need to get on with NCI, or will they take on CDL graduates?
God bless you and your family! God bless the U.S.A.! -
Thanks tall Mike, so it's safe to say dry can is better in most cases?? I'm trying to decide if it's even worth doing reefer for them. So far I'm not too convinced lol.
-
gucci2u Thanks this.
-
Those bigger reefer outfits are good for getting some experience and that's about it IMO..
You never know they could be a good fit based on what you yourself need from a company..
good luck -
Does anyone know if national carriers is good on paying detention pay?

They do have a trainer program for someone who has been out of driving for awhile. Im not sure if their out of school trainer program is up and running yet or not but was being discussed
If Houston, pick up load maybe going to Denver. or to the ports Galveston or Freeport for load going to Denver. From Denver either pick up a beer load and go God knows where all the alkies are that week. or deadhead to Liberal/Dodge City,Ks
If Ft Worth They may have a load on yard going to Denver. Or they may just deadhead you to the plants in Ks.Or any number of shippers around that area that could take you literally anywhere.
NCI is a perfect fit for me. Will they be for you?Only you can answer that. GoodLuck and Be Safe.backbackback and gucci2u Thank this.
