Hi all. I'm looking for any information regarding National Carriers since I'll be going to orientation in Irving, Texas next Monday for southwest regional. Anyone working there now, or have previously? Are they a good decent company? I'm starting there as a company driver not to lease.

I knew some guys that were leased there many many years ago they ran hard and made good money..

Now they are no different than any other starter company that leases trucks to people who don't know any better..

You'll learn to hate hauling boxed meat and everything that goes with it...

Sorry I can't paint a better picture but it is what it is..

Does NCI also haul dry goods? Does NCI also drive into Canada?

How much experience does a company driver need to get on with NCI, or will they take on CDL graduates?

God bless you and your family! God bless the U.S.A.!

Thanks tall Mike, so it's safe to say dry can is better in most cases?? I'm trying to decide if it's even worth doing reefer for them. So far I'm not too convinced lol.

NCI hauls their own product (boxed meat out of KS) to the north east, they then find u a dry load back to the midwest, you then bobtail to the meat plant and wait for a load, thats pretty much what NCI does.

Not an easy call on that one because everyone has different needs..

Those bigger reefer outfits are good for getting some experience and that's about it IMO..

You never know they could be a good fit based on what you yourself need from a company..

    good luck

Lil late to be asking these questions now. Im a NCI driver, almost 5 years. Cant explain what SW regional does as I do all 48. I love this company. But im not gonna toot horns here. The best answer to your question is the search function here on TR. The amount of Bad posts within the last 2 years are very minimal.

No Different then a chicken plant,Hog plant or a paper mill. I run all 48 but might see the beef plants 2-3 times a month.

No on Canada that I know of or ever seen. We haul refrigerated which can be anything from Meats to Medical supplies.Cool whip to Candy. And yes we haul dry loads as well.

They do have a trainer program for someone who has been out of driving for awhile. Im not sure if their out of school trainer program is up and running yet or not but was being discussed

To a point your right but let me give you a realistic round trip at NCI. Ok we will start out for giggles at Liberal,KS picking up a 3 stop load for New Jersey. Go to the ports in Glouster city,Pa reload produce for Illinois. Pick up a Load either Chicago area or south in Champain going to Ft worth area or Houston....

If Houston, pick up load maybe going to Denver. or to the ports Galveston or Freeport for load going to Denver. From Denver either pick up a beer load and go God knows where all the alkies are that week. or deadhead to Liberal/Dodge City,Ks

If Ft Worth They may have a load on yard going to Denver. Or they may just deadhead you to the plants in Ks.Or any number of shippers around that area that could take you literally anywhere.

Detention is paid anything after 2 hours as long as your not late for appt.

NCI is a perfect fit for me. Will they be for you?Only you can answer that. GoodLuck and Be Safe.
