I guess thats why they need 300,000 new drivers per year to keep up with demand. Just imagine if it was a good industry to work in, it would be very hard to get a job.
Where are the good trucking companies?

I work for McElroy. They have been good to me so far (since October of 2007). Freight is WAY UP. I get home every weekend and I still ran 2500 miles this week. Hard work though!

I don't know if Maverick still has this goofy rule, but I applied to them over 2 years ago (ultimately took another job) and I had a 2 month period of unemployment in my work history. They wanted me to get a notarized letter, witnessed by someone other than a family member, to verify that I was unemployed during that time. The recruiter's exact words were:
"We don't check it, but we require it to process your application."
So, I could have given a homeless man under a bridge a cheap bottle of wine to come to a notary public with me and sign a piece of paper. This would have satisfied Maverick's prerequiste to processing my application.
I've just gotta laugh at goofy rules... -
Yeah it is goofy, but legally they have to "verify" your last three years of employment ( or the lack thereof ) .
