I guess thats why they need 300,000 new drivers per year to keep up with demand. Just imagine if it was a good industry to work in, it would be very hard to get a job.

Maverick Specialized is the Best way to go. athey are hiring good people with professional attitues and driving skills. They start new lic. cdl-a # .41 , and exper. # .44 ///// Yes youl be hauling glass, and also almost anything on assorted flatbeds. The company 1st priority is its drives , = yes its true. If you are a professional and dont mind working, then check out Maverick. No Im not a recuriter, im just a driver for them.
good luck out there. be safe.

I've heard from many sources that Maverick is a pretty good outfit. They own a small trucking company called Parrett in my hometown. Probably would have gone to work for them when I was still driving flatbed except they have a "no pets" policy. Ain't gonna get rid of my cat for any trucking company. Flatbed is a lot of work but, like you say, if you don't mind working (and you don't have a pet), I hear Maverick is pretty good.

Hey Skilligin, Excellent point! Indeed, if this was a good industry, it WOULD be hard to get a job in!

I work for McElroy. They have been good to me so far (since October of 2007). Freight is WAY UP. I get home every weekend and I still ran 2500 miles this week. Hard work though!

I assume you mean "if your [delivery] isn't on time." Yeah, it's a funny thing... most companies will fire you for failing to make on-time deliveries. It just ain't fair...

I don't know if Maverick still has this goofy rule, but I applied to them over 2 years ago (ultimately took another job) and I had a 2 month period of unemployment in my work history. They wanted me to get a notarized letter, witnessed by someone other than a family member, to verify that I was unemployed during that time. The recruiter's exact words were:
"We don't check it, but we require it to process your application."
So, I could have given a homeless man under a bridge a cheap bottle of wine to come to a notary public with me and sign a piece of paper. This would have satisfied Maverick's prerequiste to processing my application.
I've just gotta laugh at goofy rules...

Yeah it is goofy, but legally they have to "verify" your last three years of employment ( or the lack thereof ) .
