    Hey Everyone,
might be getting back into trucking. I received a driving while intoxicated back in June of 1990, do companies look that far back? Should I put it on my app.?

What's with this black pacman emblem interfering with the posts?

Don't put it on the application unless it's specifically asked for. If the question is "Have you EVER received a DUI?", then put it on there because the company will find out about it anyway.

You won't have any problem re-entering trucking as a driver.

Some companies will only look back 3 years,,some will look back 10 years,, some will never hire anyone that has had DUI,,If you have ever had a DUI or any other criminal conviction including a misdemeanor you can not enter Canada,(They let terrorist in).
Be honest explain what happened then and since,,If one company turns you down then keep trying,Remember their are many driving jobs local and OTR other than the Big Carriers and there are many that treat their drivers and pay better.

Have you checked you MVR? IS is on there? I doubt it and so there is no way I would bring up something that old.

Wrong. DUI's are like diamonds = forever. Answer yes if asked.

If asked, I would answer yes. But if not asked, don't volunteer any information.

I guess it depends on how the question is asked. Downturn in the oilfields has led me to filling out a lot of applications this month and I've noticed most only ask for any dui charges in the last 3, 5, 7 & 10 years.

A couple will ask for any dui in your lifetime and others will outright state that any dui charge disqualifies employment. Most online forms will outline the requirements and what will or won't disqualify.

Long story short if the app asks within the last three to ten years you can obviously answer no. You'll notice a different verbiage being used on felonies (I.E. Have you EVER been convictes if a felony?).
