I also checked on getting a Class-B license, just need to sign a paper to say been driving a similar vehicle for 3 months or 3000 miles. that'll let you drive anything over 26000 and tow 10000. $35 for 10 years.

I'm new but for the most part all I've read about volvo has mostly been negative. Expensive to repair, very heavy when compared to similar spec other makes. Here's a thread discussing the repair costs.

Good luck with your adventure in getting a tractor to pull a camper.

Just bought a Pete 387 to tow my RV. Registered in NM as RV for $83.50 per year. Also paid 3% sales tax like a normal vehicle. Had to remove air lines for trailer, have a fridge, microwave and inverter but it had all three of those when I bought it. (of course I didn't buy the flatbed!) I also put "Privately Owned Not for Hire" on the sides in two inch lettering.

They have to allow for all states rules for license per federal if I remember what I looked up right. No matter if I'm from Texas driving to kentucky. Kentucky might have stricter rules on licenses but if Texas isn't the same kentucky has to allow me it and vise versa for all states per federal law.

There's no federal laws for licensing, that is all up to the states and the states have agreed since the end of ww2 to simplify and recognize other states vehicles as able to operate on their roads. The exception right now to this agreement and the interstate commerce clause is California and CARB.

    Emulsified Thanks this.
