I guess my ICR got a slap on the wrist or something because she hasn't been helping me do rambo trailer searches any more LOL. For the longest time I would just ask her to put in a stop at a place of my choosing along to the way to my pickup and she would do it happily. It was perfect. "Hmm I feel like picking up an empty from K-Mart today" - "Ok I'll add that in!". Now she just puts in a stop at my house and I have to send the no-empty exception in. Which means having to go out to the truck and wait 10 minutes for the MCP to come out of deep sleep mode, update 500 messages and 20 workflow changes, spam me with 50 new messages about missing DVIR reports which I haven't sent in since December, and then finally send in the exception.
Of course this leads to the box planners telling me to leave Chapel Hill, NC, and go all the way down to Hope Mills, NC (near Fayetteville) to pick up an empty and THEN head over towards Lexington, NC for my pickup, a total of 250 miles to get to the shipper instead of about 80. I called up support shaft and after sitting on hold for 25 minutes told them I would sit at home for the next week and finish binge watching Sons of Anarchy before I started up that Kenworth to spend half of a day going to get an empty trailer. They wisely decided to add a stop at the Archdale, NC droplot. Of course as I turn on to the road that the gate is on, a company truck goes by the other direction WITH THE TRAILER THAT I AM SUPPOSED TO BE PICKING UP. About blew a gasket until I pulled into the drop lot and realized there were like four other empties there. This, of course, raises the question "Why the **** would they (try to) send me to Hope Mills to pick up an empty instead of here, along the way, when there are at least four empties?". The answer is probably "because we can totally shaft these ICs by having them shift around our empty trailer overages for almost free". NEVER go out of your way to pick up an empty.
Then my AC decided to stop working but since it was dark thankfully it didn't matter. Don't know why but judging by the stack of like 8 AC repair bills (not joking) I found in the glovebox when I bought this truck it appears to have some AC gremlins LOL. I don't know much about AC systems but the compressor clutch was not kicking on. Well thats... at least part of the problem. Last week it broke too, and I fixed it by fixing the pre-existing redneck hotwire fix consisting of a jumper wire taking the place of what I assume is some kind of a pressure switch. Since we don't need no stinkin' pressure switch I cut the connector off and twisted the wires together so the compressor always runs when the AC switch is on in the cab. Guess that only lasted for one trip. So when I got to Carlisle I took the time to actually spice the wires together (gotta keep it redneck and still bypass that pressure switch or whatever it is). End result will probably consist of a catastrophic failure of the AC compressor ejecting a piston through the head, but whatever, she's a tough old truck.
Interestingly, the 1" piece of jumper wire has been sitting on the step for two round trips from Carlisle to NC and back up. How it has not fallen off, I don't know. I just found that mildly interesting. I haven't touched it. If it makes yet another trip I will take a picture as that would surpass the point of just being "mildly interesting".
Just booked my load out. I should technically sit for a day before delivering it because otherwise I will be delivering it way early. BUT CS screwed up and left in the remarks an incorrect "must arrive on date" when they rescheduled it and put it on the load board. Might be a good opportunity to exercise my inner "but I'm just a dumb truck driver" and deliver it way early and say I was confused about the date...
What a life. At least I can read through this post and laugh about some of the **** I wrote.

When i leave the house. The first place i look for an empty is proctor and gamble in browns summit. I dont care what work flow says. They wanted me to go to Archdale to pick up an empty, and i was picking up in Reidsville.

"Hiding the issue is worse than the issue usually, just as Tom......."
But he didn't hide anything, it's a big "sting", set up, conspiracy, a pre-determined result............................well you get the point -
So I'm guessing DFO grabbed one of those Charlotte to Richmond loads that was on the board. Should be at Charlotte on Saturday night

I thought the reference to Tom was making a joke about Tom Brady. My apologies if I was wrong about the real reference.

I informed SCHNEIDER about the dot inspection while it was happening. It was the next day I told them about the seat belt violation. Was not gonna hide it just weighing my options on fighting the ticket or not.

Down in NC tonight. Rinse and repeat, should be in Carlisle by early tomorrow morning, the camp the load board for my load home for the weekend. Our resident Army mechanic had some experience with A/C systems and showed me some stuff I can attach random gauges to, insert toxic gas in and take apart only to lose all the pieces, so maybe I'll work on that this weekend.mickimause, stevep1977, TennMan and 1 other person Thank this.
