My wife has been working there for a year and I would have to say that of all the bad stuff I read about trucking companies in this forum there is none of that at Challenger. No lies, no misrepresentations. It just seems like a real good place to work. No BS

Challenger is a privately owned company that is owned by an induvidual from Kitchener On. It will probably stay that way as there are no plans to sell it.

Oh I don't know about that. I know that they have a yard in Detroit and I always see American OO trucks there. They also have a terminal in Vancouver and do a lot of hauling into the American west from there. A few days ago they were looking for single drivers for a Toronto to Vancouver to LA steady run. You probably are not interested in moving to Canada but if you were Challenger hires lots of foreign drivers. Some Americans but mostly Brits and Dutch. They make it very easy as they look after all the government stuff for these guys. It's completely no touch freight. I would say about 50 50 Live load unload or drop hook. The pay depends on your experience and there is no and I mean no screwing around about money. If you make it they pay it period.

Thanks, Canuk. That sounds like an honest to goodness great trucking company. Rare nowdays. Maybe things are different in Canada than in the USA. Refreshing to hear about a company like that!

Things are different here and the main reason is that Canadian labour laws prevent the royal screwing of drivers that companies get away with in the USA. If you get screwed by an employer here you do not need a lawyer you just take the relevent documentation into the ministry of labour and if your case has merit they come down on the employer like 10 tons of brick on your head. As an x employer I can tell you from experience that you better not do anything to people that work for you that is outside of the labour laws or it could cost you everything you have. I find that trucking companies here might stretch the law as much as they can and it is done almost with an unspoken agreement with the drivers but on the other hand the drivers have an unspoken agreement with the owners that I'll scratch your back if you will scratch mine and I will over look these things but when I need you to go the extra distance for me you better be there. And they usually are.
