There's no set time required for hauling fuel. Whatever the company wants to do is the requirement. I was in the office one day and a very new driver walked in off the street and was hired right there on the spot. He didn't last very long but that's another story. Every company is different, some may require 3 years experience and others may require 3 years experience with 1 year hauling fuel. You never know until you seek them out. That's one of the reasons I go face to face when looking for a job. ( If I ever did go for a job ). I'd like some college book smart so called safety engineer tell me that driving in the city with an 85' truck and trailer is not considered experience.

The point is, you gave great information for THAT company. That's just one among many. For years my company required 5 years and 2 in city gasoline experience. They changed that to when they went to 3 years, doesn't matter what type but they prefer some being in city deliveries. Now, I do not know what they require since they have changed hands. It's up to the company to require what they want. HOWEVER, when anyone is looking for work and you like the company go see them and they might not require that requirement. I have seen a driver get hired to a company right out of school. That requirement is a tool the companies use to lower the number of applications that are sent to them and some think they are getting a better driver. Plus it looks good for them to a insurance carrier.

 

I gave information for this particular company because this is the company the op was inquiring about. Clearly I'm not making general statements about all companies ...
