Heavy Haul Miscellaneous Thoughts, Ideas and Questions

I don't use pilots often, but I have had good luck with ODS, www.odsna.com. We don't typically need them to do much because we don't haul a lot of really big loads. The big selling point for me is that they respond promptly and are usually able to get cars on relatively short notice. No matter where I need them they have always come through. I have never had a driver complain or suggest that they were unprofessional.

 

Was up in your neighborhood today.
Took a Feller Buncher back to the plant.
Was a long trip from Me.

 

Tough getting routes? Are you running around with 7 on the ground these days? How heavy can you go?

 

Yep 7 on the ground for now.
Left the stinger and 8th axle at the yard. Right now it has been dead weight.
Well we could not go through Ma. as they have a rule anything over 130 and not del in their state and if it's Ag. or const. equipment. No travel allowed.
Ended up being 13' 8" h. so it was Me. Nh. Vt. Ny. Pa. then on across
Rte. survey in Nh. was required.

 

I can go 134K with 7 in most states. Can put 78 on the deck.
Just have to be dead bang on spotting it

 

Hey guys quick question,
Is there an appreciable difference in the amount of weight that most states will give you between a 4'6" tridem spread versus a 4'7" spread?
If it helps, or matters the spacing between the steer and lift axle is 14'11" on the truck with a 4'7" spread, and 16'4" on the 4'6" spread truck.

 

Ok. gets kinda goofy on spacings also for weight.
I have 4' 7" on my trk. with 15' 7" from steer to lead axle.
So far it has been good for me

 

Ok, thanks. My current truck has the 4'7" spacing. I have a chance to get into a 379 with a 14.6k front axle and 4'6" spacing. So just trying to do some homework to see what I'll gain/lose capacity wise

 

I don't think the 4' 6" will hurt. Now if 4' 4" or 4' 2" that would be a real killer in alot of states.
