Ok I just received an email from Heartland about the "new" pay package. I have been with my current company many years but it is time to move on. The Heartland email says:

Regional $0.40 per mile with 1 years exp and $0.55½ per mile with 10 years exp. My question is does this have to be with Heartland or total driving experience with all companies? I know that sounds like a stupid question but I'm asking anyway. Also does anyone know if they do orientation at the Jacksonville terminal more than once a week? Thanks in advance.

    Why not move upward...not sideways?

I'm not quite sure what you mean? I have twenty years exp. 17 of those as an owner operator and have recently sold my last truck. As a company driver at my current company there is a big difference in what they pay per mile and what Heartland is offering.

You can do a lot better than Heartland...especially with your experience. Seems as if Heartland offers a lot yet they fail to deliver. 20 years is a long time to settle for being micromanaged in a gutted truck.

The 55 cpm is for system drivers, not regional unless in the Northeast region, which has pay same as system. Basically they have a set base pay, then do 1/2 a cpm for each year experience. So 10 years is 5 cpm. Plus 1 cpm use to be safety bonus, but I think they raised that also so not sure now. And 1 cpm for hazmat, all miles. Then in the Northeast they give 4 cpm for all miles north of Maryland and East of I-81.

I believe that going by their numbers the raise ended up around 15% for all drivers.
I had one of the high ups call me after they did it to try and get me back and discuss changes, and ideas. The raise was enough to get me to about the income I needed, but not quite on a 5 day work week. I really wanted to be around 50k per year working 5 to 5.5 days per week. Their numbers had me at around 45-48 pretty easy. Averaging around 2000 miles per week.
