Oversize quoting

I'd say 5%-10% of what I do is oversize, I'm with an independent company now but used to be with one of the larger well known companies. That larger company had a link to a quoting system accessible by agents for the company. Sure, I can still call an agent with that company and have them quote something for me, but I'm looking for something I can use on my own. With the larger company's quoting system you just put in the origin, destination, dims, weight, and it would give you the routed miles, permit costs per state, if you need escorts, city and county requirements............With that being said that's what makes me think there has to be software out there to purchase and use yourself. I mean it would spit the numbers back to you quick, unless it was a super load, in that case someone at the corporate office would route and rate it. So I'm still reaching out, someone has to know something. Thanks for the advice thus far.

 

Still looking for something if anyone knows of anything. I realize all of the variables involved, looking for some sort of software to at least provide state permit costs. I have the 2015 Oversize Reference Book, it's a good guideline for different state requirements, but nothing in there about rates.

 

Thanks for the input RGN, I know there are always variables, I drove for 26 years, been doing the freight agent/broker thing for 3 years now, I was with a Nationally known company (think blue star) and they had an internal quoting system, which is why I continue to think that there is some sort of software out there. It wasn't always accurate, sometimes way too high, sometimes way too low, but that was on the linehaul part, the permits and escort fees were closer to accurate. I'm at a smaller company now but don't want to bother others for quotes, would rather do it myself.
