Attention company and owner operators. I ran into a few weeks ago for a second time at a shipper in New York. The first time I met him was with his boss/owner a few weeks before at the same shipper. Boy am I glad I did. That driver was a lot more open with me about how things are there. He didn't know who his boss was ( the guy that tries to recruit me or his wife). Called umpteen times a day for things like location and eta updates. As if they couldn't track him. (They use big road elogs. Dot looks real hard at drivers using them.) sounds like this company doesn't have operating capital. For things like payroll or even fuel. They take advances from the loads to pay those thing. This driver stated he doesn't get paid until they get paid. I was told the owner or his wife will be the ones booking all loads. And the rate confirmation would be showed to me upon request. When I get to their office. Which is at their house right now. So anyone doing business of any type proceed with extreme caution. Whether working for them or brokering to them. Brand new company without operating capital spells disaster. In my opinion.

A very compelling summary that you've offered up for our members to reflect upon. Thanks for your input.
77smartin and Cranky Yankee Thank this. -
I do not remember but I think a person has to do more typing to sign up for a account than you put in your post. More info would be great.
PSsd off Thanks this. -
Yes it certainly would. Please, tell your story.

I'm sorry they're out of Springfield, MO. I updated the original post. I was seriously thinking about leasing to this company. The more I talked with his driver the more I realized this new company is just looking to cash in on drivers / owner operators. At the drivers expense.
d o g Thanks this. -
Any time you hear " we can't pay you until we get paid" pack your stuff immmediately and get out.
It means they're scrimping by with no real cash flow and are just one tic away from being insolvent. Run away, run away fast.truckerlife74, MACK E-6 and PSsd off Thank this. -
That's what I was thinking.

That's definitely something to think about. I wouldn't wait until the first paycheck bounces.
