Don't limit fuel to 50 gallons. You can barely do anything on 50 gals. Why make someone waste a bunch of time having to fuel multiple times per day? That would frustrate me a lot.

I agree with the other posters. This driver can't bother to keep his phone on, return phone calls, moved the truck without dispatch and he just cost you a lot of money. Add, why the heck is he using auto-grade coolant in a commercial truck? If he is going through that much fluid, the truck should've been taken to a shop and looked at.

If you're worried he is in the process of destroying your truck right now, grab a spare set of keys and send someone out to pick it up. If not, route him to the office and have him clean out the truck while being supervised. He should go home on his own dime since he lost you so much money.

So this is why people pay on 1099......

The unemployment insurance. He could have worked enough credits with some one else before you and you fire him he can collect. But if you can document and prove theft, I don't see how he could collect.

Who's phone is it? Is there signal with the carrier in the location he was in?

Yes it seems like common a sense, that he would call before bugalooing home. That I don't get. You don't like him anyway, I would go and tell him if he goes home again with out speaking to you first, you will take the fuel cost out of his check or more......

Making executive decisions requires interpretations based from models; Stealing Fuel: What kind of Trailer does your experienced driver pull; Old Salts, make some interpretations that make some people cringe.

Sample: In the past, Reefer owners filled both the Tractor & Reefer Fuel Tank with road fuel while also using a single receipt.
Also, the fuel desk clerk have been known to make a mistake on a fuel receipt by not showing reefer fuel purchased.

Identifying fuel theft requires more questions: single receipt fuel purchase Vs. 30,000 miles divide by total gallons purchased (approx mileage ran during a Quarter.) Ques: What was the trucks MPG over this 30,000 miles & whats the tractors idle time percentage over that same period.

Knowing these answers your able to grade your drivers performance and find strength on how you'll proceed with your decision.

I'm glad someone cleared that up you can get unemployment if your laid off some company's give you the paper work to sign if your fired the game changes and it is anything but easy to get unemployment. The most I ever got after being fired was one check then it became a real struggle with court dates and such it's easier to go back to work.
