This is not a "commercial" since I have no financial interest, but if you have a smartphone consider downloading the free "Trucker Path" app. You can look ahead at truckstops and rest areas on your route and check the parking situation. The app is only as good as the info that other drivers put into it, and some of the updates can be a day old, but the more people that use it the more reliable it will become.

Some are concerned because the app "tracks" you or they think that since it's free you'll get spam ads, but I've used it for several months and haven't been spammed once. And as far as being tracked, the cellular company always knows where your phone is anyway.

I have a question. I am a local driver so thereby I return to yard a the end of the day. By law a local driver is permitted to drive past his 14 in order to be able to make it back to his workplace but not driver over 11 though. Its called the 16 hr exception rule. He can only do that once a week. I was pulled over in a weigh station and they went through my log book and saw that I had 2 days within a week from a couple weeks back. Now I was not cited for driving over my 14 that day but from a couple weeks back. Now would that be considered a moving violation or just a HOS violation. Would appreciate any comeback, thnx.

I don't have an answer for your question, but why do you have more than one week of logs with you? Didn't your mother tell you over and over to use your brain? Kidding of course and I think you can see my point.

That's a good app. Be great if more drivers used it on a daily basis. I've had it for a couple months. It's came in real handy a couple times.

Me too. Seeing that the truck stop I was aiming for was already full a couple of hours before I got there saved my bacon.

Thnx on feedback. My company doesn't make it mandatory to turn in your logs by 7 days like most others do. And yes my bag for keeping them to the end of the month to turn in. I just forget about them. They tend to give one to much work and make one run illegal. I'm looking for other driving job before they ruin my driving record. Guys be safe

Here is another idea work for a company that pays you enough to where you don't need to work 14 hours a day because I know some of those 14 hour days are really 16 and why the hell would I work 14-16 hours a day ? I'm not Chinese I'm the son of a union man my father probably rolls over in his grave twice a week seeing me work 12 hours a day 14 hour days burn my ### it's insane. Start doing the math and your working for 12 hour.

Agree with you. It's a nation wide lumber company who delivers their lumber via flatbed, so its not a trucking company per se. Hell of alot of more work involved especially when have to tarp and untarp loads for mutulpule stops and getting up in the wee hours of the morning plus making alot of less money compared to OTR flatbedding. Might be time to go back OTR..
