Down time for most any flatbedder should be at LEAST $1k per day.

I wish. Unfortunately I my over all average NET income is not $1000 a day. From Jan to late Feb I was struggling to NET $2k a week. Things didnt really pick up until early March for me. I was just getting into a nice strong run by April 21st when I was hit. From mid March to April 21st my average rate was $2.91 mi. Partly why I have been able to financially weather this out just fine.

I have a lawyer working on recovering my lost revenue. Its all they do. My truck should be out of the shop next Monday,.. hopefully. Koch should have taken me up on my first request. They are not going to like what she sends them.

Reading about guys complaining about current rates,.. not sure what to expect when I come back out. I havent been watching any of the boards. I hear its ugly out there right now,.. even with dedicated shippers.

Yeah, I told her you recommended me. But I dont know your name,.. so I said yeah, he's a guy on a trucking forum I am on and he says he gets Christmas cards from her. She just laughed and said she had no clue.

I explained to her what happened. Explained the set backs and delays. Gave her my settlement sheets, gave her my expenses and costs and she's going to file on them as soon as I get my truck back. She's taking into account the load I lost in Jersey and the time and fuel costs for me to dead from Jersey to Florida plus averaging out the last 90 days of my gross vs my expenses and operating costs.

I only calculated for 20 days and offered to settle for less as I expected my truck to be fixed in around 2 weeks. Thats when Koch wanted me to sign a released form that released them of any and all liability after paying for the repairs of my truck. No mention was given to lost revenue. When I questioned this he said that they would pay me $150 a day for 5 days. As that is standard in the industry and all the time it should take to repair the truck. I blew a gasket here at the house and refused to sign. Thats when I called my insurance and then got in touch with Eckert & Associates. I have not been in contact with Koch since. To me Hagan Leroy is nothing but a snake oil salesman. You call their insurance (IRL) to make a claim and they pass you off to Hagan Leroy of Koch claims dept.

I honestly tried to be decent about it. Its a large company. I didnt expect to be treated this way. If it ever happens again,.. private property or not,.. I'm getting a police report done and immediately turning it over to my insurance.

You just cant be a nice guy in this business. People will walk all over you if you let them.

My name is Carl. And it was with ATS. That will ring a bell with her I believe..
Due to legal issues even though it's settled that's about all I can or will say.
The matter got resolved and she and the lawyer she found me in Md. did a good job.

Thanks Carl. Keep it on the down low,.. but my real name isnt Hurst,..Shhh. :D Though almost everyone I know in real life calls me Hurst. And if you asked about Hurst,.. they will know exactly who you are talking about,.. except a Lawyer or Doctor,.. they would know me as Jim. :)

I should hear from her or Matt on Monday.

There was a problem with the first hood, shop called me on Friday and said new hood should be in on Mon or Tue. Hopefully my truck comes out of the shop this week. I have a new generator and had an aluminum box made for it that I want to mount on the truck and actually try out to see if a 8500 BTU window unit will be enough to cool the truck with out idling. I also bought new carpet and a new wiper switch I want to put in also.

As I keep saying to guys who want to become O/O's. Just because your home,.. your time is still spent working. I have to admit,.. I havent BBQ'd at home and had this many nights out with my wife in a long time.

    Absolutely loving it.

Silly thing is,.. once I head out,.. I'll be turning back around to pick my wife back up so she can spend the summer out on the road with me again. She has some classes she needs to take to keep her licenses up to date, else she would roll out with me soon as my truck is done. I'll only be out 1 - 2 weeks tops,.. depends how long it takes to get everything I want done to my truck. Then heading right back home. :D

Thats what I am hoping for. During the summer, the i10 coast to coast region can test the minerals of any AC system. I was in Baton Rogue last July and it was miserable,.. had the front and rear AC cranking and you could feel the heat baking from the condo roof. Truck being dark green doesnt help either. Mid roof Pete was much easier to keep cool. And its not that the trucks AC isnt capable,.. I spent $2300 gutting and replacing the AC system in the truck when I first got it. It blows ice cold. I also put dynamat down on the floor and new carpet over it, that helped keep the heat and cold from coming through the floor. My truck is just a generic company spec Columbia,.. its not insulated very well.

I've got a 8500 BTU GE here in the bedroom because I like it cooler than what my wife sets the house AC to. She is always cold, where I am always hot. Plus I sleep better when its cool and not so humid. Humidity in Fla can be brutal at times.
