    Hello my name is dave and i have a few questions..its been a long standin dream of mine to be a truck driver and i finally got the wheels up to start..only thing is, i have minor felony under my belt..heard a few companies out there will hire such as Schneider dht conway usa etc etc, can anyone give me any info on what i need to do..its been near over 10yr now since my original charge and now i can finally get to hopefully drive..its really all i want to do all info is greatly appreciated...safe drivin y'all and thanx in advance

    Hi Dave.

    The fact that your felony charge is older than 5 years is to your advantage. In the eyes of carriers (and their insurance companies), certain felony charges are considered too risky, but just having a prior felony doesn't make you unhireable. Just be upfront with the recruiters you talk to. If you have paperwork showing that you completed some kind of program related to your case (community supervision, drug/alcohol awareness, anything like that), or if your former PO will write you a letter of recommendation, those will help you get hired.

    One of my ex-wife's friends' husband has a felony older than 10 years, and he got hired at JB Hunt. As far as I know, he's still driving for them.

    Thanx rockinchair.. i dont think i still hav that paperwork anymore..never thought id be tryin to do this ever again!! Like i said..its just a minor felony, only a class 6 misdemeanor.. i just hope i can find a company that is willin to hire me..my work history is not a good one either because of said felony..im just lookin for a second chance to im not what my "paper history" says, ya know!! Heard Schneider and a few others would possibly look at me..

    Aint got neither of those so i know im good...just a minor class 6 misdemeanor is all..been 11yr now..just need a foot in the door somewhere..thanx for the info crankyyankee hope to see ya down the lune someday!!

    Are you looking for a trucking company CDL school or private CDL school?
    You're good to go either way. Guys fresh out of prison go right in to trucking, so your 11 yr. old felony is no barrier.

    Would prefer a company paid program but I know I'm asking a lot for that, if I have to pay myself I will..

    Thanx Chinatown I surely will do...got chance to go to CR England, any thoughts...they got a school back home 0 tuition 9 month commitment to company..thoughts???

    Try the other two first.
    Henderson has a guarantee minumum pay for 2100 miles a week @ .38 cpm. Private one person hotel room and 3 meals a day during CDL school.
    I like Henderson and MCT because you run hard coast-to-coast pulling reefers.
    Sometimes when going through MCT school, they will ask if you want hazmat/tankers and if you do they will switch you over to CTL Transportation.Good opportunity for those wanting to start their trucking career in tanks.
