I was looking for another place to get my DOT physical. I usually go to a Med Clinic which is actually quite good. But things being the way they are price wise, thought I'd look around.

So I go to a CVS store where they have the "Minute Clinic", and really was in for a surprise price wise.

They want $110.00 for the DOT exam, then they WANT an additional $30 for the urine test!

I said to the gal, "whoa, this is not for a drug screen, you just dip the urine sample and see if I have sugar", it's THAT simple".!

the gal said they send it out (the urine sample) to check for sugar, the A1C reading and that is why it costs more for the urine test.

I said "that is frigging insane, no one does that, they just use the dip sticks, check for sugar, and you're done"

Gal said it's the way CVS does it.

And here I was initially looking for a cheaper DOT exam, all because I thought that the regular place I go to (a DOT certified clinic by the way), was charging too much money at $89.00, COMPLETE..!!

So if you need a new DOT, and near you is a CVS that does the DOT physical, think again, and do a search for a place near you that is way cheaper.

I just went to Concentra for around $80. I don't see the big deal though. An extra $60 doesn't seem like a huge figure when it comes to trucking costs.

I go to the family doctor. $75.00 and a quarter of deer meat when I shoot one in the fall. (He's been my family's doctor for 45 years or so, so he's like family)

My primary care doctor retired and he really didn't want to do DOT physicals in the first place, which lead me to the clinic I do go to and have been for about 6 years now.

Well I see the big deal in spending money for the same service. It is only a DOT physical, nothing more, so why pay more?

Like food shopping, auto insurance, home insurance, many of us go for the lower prices, right?

If everything is near equal, why pay more, just to make the big companies bigger?

I just think that if anyone is due for a DOT physical, shop around, it's a DOT physical, nothing all that special, or complicated to warrant an extra charge for urine sampling that can be done in the office, rather than to charge us extra to send it out.

    Yeah, huh...
    You too..???

I went to the local ATA affiliate here and bought a stack of DOT physicals, $2.00 each..!!

Well something is wrong, if the same service is more expensive under the act.
