When taken into consideration that those wanting you driving as soon your 10 hrs are up have been off for 15 hrs , are home EVERY NIGHT and never " worked " more than 8 hrs a day in their life , then I'd say it goes beyond terrible .
Some people can get by on 6 hrs sleep , others can't , and as I like to point out the 10 hr break is the MINIMUM ,
    NOT the MAXIMUM .
And - your " schedule " of only being out for 5 days , which means you're only gone from home 4 nights makes it a little easier to " run hard " as you'll be home before you have a chance to get tired , c'mon out here with me for 4-6 weeks at a pop and see how well that " drive 11 sleep 10 " holds up.

Well your out 4 weeks out would work but the OP is posting about Davis Express. They are mostly home weekly. The longest they stay out is 2wks. I have a feeling the OP couldn't handle all of the night driving Davis Express does. They deliver mostly to Publix stores so they need to pick up and make it to the stores in the morning to get unloaded. I'll bet he didn't talk to any of their drivers. 90% of their driving is during the night and I'm willing to bet he's solar powered. And Davis Express is bar none one of the safest companies operating. They only run the southeast with 40% of their loads staying in Florida. They have a very low turn over rate. They wouldn't have awesome csa scores and low turn over if they were as bad as the OP says they are. As I said...he probably couldn't handle the night driving and jumped ship.

Not for them, but I tried that once. Never again.

Some folks like that, some don't but can get used to it, and some can NEVER get used to that. Neither could I.

It's not up to you decide how much sleep is enough for other people.

5-6 hours is not enough rest for everyone. It might be enough for you, but what does that matter? You're only one driver. One grain of sand on a very long and wide beach.

I enjoy night driving. HOWEVER....if I'm expected to roll the second my 10 hr break is over, regardless of whether I was able to get any rest during that break or not, it isn't going to work out. I would really like to hear from current Davis drivers about this and whether there's any truth to it or not. If I was held up at a customer, didn't get much sleep, and I could leave the place and get some sleep after I'm done and let them know when I'm ready to go, then it might be ok.

Even if you just took a 10 hr break but you are still tired,it is against the law to drive fatigued..FMCSA 392.3

There are plenty of solar driver jobs available.

This just isn't one of them.

Other than driving at night, it's not a bad place to work for.

That doesn't tell me much about how they are. Care to elaborate on that?
