Like others have said, you can disable the system. But do you want to without company permission? They proably had this system spec'd on the truck for saving on fuel costs. Now,I don't want you to die of heat stroke or freeze in the winter but please try to address the problem with management.Your comfort should be a big priority.Well,hopefully.Here's a simple list of why not to change anything on a company truck without permission.
1.The ECM records just about everthing, speeding, hard braking, idling time and bad shifting to name a few.If the truck goes back to the shop for a PM the mechanic only has to plug the ECM into a laptop and recieve all the info on the trucks performance but also on how the truck was operated.
2.Some states do require a working auto shut down for idle time.If you go through a DOT inspection and they find it's been disabled, you can be shut down. You can have your companies mechanic change code to allow for more idle time but it's not hard for an inspector to find that it's not shutting down in the required amount of time.
3.The good news? Most states, although they do have idling laws, you can be exempt if the temperature has dropped too cold or too warm.
4.I had a few friends fired because of the ECM.Check company policy out before you try to bypass anything.

Uh the company had a little piece of paper in the shop that said how to disable it lol. All I had to do was hit the clutch when it did it instead of the gas. Wasn't like I hacked into the system... yet.
IdahoPhil Thanks this. -
How do they expect a driver to sleep in the heat or cold with this programmed in their truck, does every company do this???
-
My company had some trucks with it and using fast idle was one way around it, for some drivers, they disabled the fast idle. My former company did that with slow idle but never disabled the fast idle/

As long as there is a way to shut it off i dont really care. I think all 2007+ trucks have to have it to operate in CA now.

I drive an 06 387- to set idle on mine from an idle turn on the cruise control button and then hit the set button like setting cruise..RPMs
come up about 200 to 650-700 and will remain running as long as you like..

had an 02 volvo 670 with an N14 Cummins and it would shut down after 5 minutes of idle. Using the cruise control to go to idle up was the only way to stop it. My 04 W900 never had the auto shut down.

I'll have to try that on our FLs the next time I get one that won't idle. -
Try chocking your wheels, prop the clutch in with your billy club or other, and release the brakes. On many trucks this will disengage the idle sensor and stop the automatic shutoff.
