Ridiculous rates

I've bounced mty more this year than even when I had my 13 axle setup.
I just refuse to haul the cheap stuff. Yea it pays fuel.. yea yea.
I need to make a profit not run for fuel money. I can get almost double fuel mileage running mty. than hauling a heavy ld. for van rates. I do heavy haul work.
The rate are getting really stupid here this year.
I just wish the repo man would catch up to these guys and get the extra equipment off the highway

 

They aren't dead beats hauling the cheap loads, it's the large carriers. It makes good business sense for them to get something rather then nothing getting out of a bad area.

I get a good rate going into a bad area. If there's a cheap load that's light and easy to load I'll take it also.

 

I'm hoping to see a little bump in rates next week due to many taking off for the DOT blitz. I also would expect to see a little bump in construction loads if it ever stops with the nationwide rains. It seems crazy to say it, with fuel being our largest expense, but I think if we would see oil go back to $70+ it would help get the oilfield truckers back to work too. I'm not an optimist, but I could see things come together where we would get a few months of decent rates yet this year. I hope so, I'd like to get some money together to keep the repo man from coming after me this winter !

Well yea, but up to a point. They are hedging their bets so to speak. Hoping things pickup and the person or companies will make things right..

 

It's not just the large carriers hauling cheap, it's the little guys too. I'm with passingthru on this, I refuse to work for fuel money. My bounce miles this year is way over what they were last year. Last week I bounced 1600 miles to get a load that payed worth while.

 

the funny thing is. these lowboy mfg. companies are back ordered for like 8 to 10 weeks or more with orders. wonder when the cancelation orders will start?

 

The economy is slowing down, every time I get Bicentennial quarters in change, times are getting hard. I've got 3 in the last week or two.
I still save them all,. but when my money gets tight, I suppose I'll have to spend them
