I agree with Mack E-6 that animals are safe in the truck as anywhere else. We had our cat before my husband went back into trucking. Our cat came to us to get away from the Mexican that was abusing him. That cat to us is our little son. Fort Worth, TX is heavily populated with Mexicans. At his present time at his job he was only making $450.00 a week so we thought we would go with C.R. England to make more. Wrong idea. We lost our home because of England. Us and too many other people who fell for his hoax. So what did you want us to do put our cat in some shelter because we lost our home? And maybe get picked up again by some Mexican that that cat tried so desperately to get away from? How cruel would that be? Would you do that to one of your kids? We are now driving for John Christner Trucking and making good money to get a home again, not mainly for us but for our cat. For the time being we stop at hotels and I bathe that cat, I brush him and trim his claws. At least he is safe and warm with us. He gets bottled water with ice, his treats with tartar and plaque control, baby water with flouride, and in the truck he sits under the A/C vent. So don't say I am cruel to that cat by no means. You don't know everyone's situation to be saying that. Our cat loves the truck. I have a picture of him that looks like he actually is driving it. So I guess me and 90% of the other truckers are wrong for having an animal in the truck. Think what u want, I don't agree with u.

by the way, becareful of idling w/pets. As I read the law the only time you are allowed to idle is if YOU are not in the truck. In other words, you cant leave the animal alone in the truck, but once you get back in you have to shut down.

That's just so they can hit you again for endangering an animal. If I had a pet, no way am I putting its life in danger in extreme heat or cold.

I hear that! I was told that if you were to get a ticket you should call the ASPCA right away and tell them the officer was forcing you to endanger the life of an animal. Dont know if this would work, it would def. make an enemy of the cop. Might win the battle but lose the war.

After the NO IDLING laws took effect here in the Land-0-Fruits & Nutz, and they informed drivers that even having a pet on board, wouldn't prevent a citation, I figured the ASPCA would be a good place to voice my displeasure.

I borrowed a friend's human sized dog costume, and I wear it whenever I stop for a sleep break.
Now, I don't know for sure if the cops feel sorry for big dogs in Big trucks, ---- or if they're just afraid of big dogs in Big trucks BIG bite. But either way, I get the comfortable rest I need.

    OH!
And while I'm sleeping in that big dog costume, I have a life-sized, full color poster of
Janet Reno sittin' in the jump seat.
That seems to keep EVERYbody away, including ladies of the evening (commercial company).

Betwixt those two measures, I don't get hassled.
Of course, I also have fewer friends, now.
    They figure I'm nutz.
    And I figure they're correct. :yes2557: :biggrin_2552:

    Thanx for that report, amigo!
    Mission accomplished.

Now, I can slip into something more comfortable. :biggrin_25525:

*( Now where did I put my gorilla costume?
I wore the tooth fairy costume yesterday, and don't want to over-do it.
I DO have an image to protect,
    doncha know.) :biggrin_25523:
