wait your at abf and want to leave for a 45 cent a mile gig???
bigdogpile and truckon Thank this. -
Just wait for them to kick in. If your meds haven't kicked in and you try to read my posts...then you're missing half the fun!
It's impossible to delete me anyways. You're better off trying to divide by zero or teaching a swift driver to back.

Just asked because Continental is not a 48 state outfit. More like 31.texasbbqbest Thanks this.
-
Not necessarily. Just looking around right now.

Yeah I saw that. Thank you for the suggestion. Have to do more reading up on them. Kinda sounds a little "too good to be true".
Trying to keep realistic expectations.KMac Thanks this. -
Since you have experience with ltl and doubles, why not run extra board for a company like OD, FXF, Estes, etc? Plus those companies don't take out pay to support the company and pension. Not only that, starting pay in my barn is .52 cpm and they're gonna be giving extra board drivers 2-3 year old sleepers after the teams put 250-350k miles.texasbbqbest Thanks this.

Two answers, leaving a Union company with a pension definitely makes you nutso! I've heard a lot of good about ABF, God know I've applied about 20 times haha. On the other thing, don't forget companies that don't work off seniority can be just as annoying! I'm leaving a place I've been at for 1.5yrs with awesome hours (5a-2p M-F days) to go to P&D with varying start times for who knows how long. Although the non seniority system worked FOR me here, I've watched it screw many people who have put a lot of time in, gave the job 100% and then got skipped over for newer drivers because the company could get away with paying them less, and because they had their lips attached to the backsides of the mgrs, I've also seen people forced to quit by different methods because they either got into (valid) arguments with a mgr that they didn't want to loose, called somebody out on their stupidity etc. I get along good with everybody but that can change very quickly, it's nice having that layer of protection in the event somebody wants to fire you for the sky being blue on a Wednesday. Nothings perfect man, obviously only you know the specifics of your particular situation, but give it some good thought before you take off.texasbbqbest and Vilhiem Thank this.

A lot of guys working for abf are disgruntled because the pension fund is not gonna be around when it's time for anyone younger than 50 retires and that they significantly cut the paid time off. Not only that abf is taking 10% of your paycheck to keep the company afloat.
If that doesn't scream bad company, I don't know what does. Don't even ask about YRC, they're about ten times worse than ABF. The only good union company left is UPS.
