I'm far from jealous of paying a tax to have a job. I spent 2 years under a teamster contract. It was nothing to write home about.
You make marginally more than I do, for far more rules and BS to have to put up with.
IF you get a raise, everyone gets one too, including the slug that doesn't hardly pick his own but up off the chair. When I get a raise I get it because I earned it. Not because it was mandated by another slug who sits in an office dreaming of ways to drive another nail into the coffin of the company they're slowly killing.

There is nothing to be jealous of where unions are involved. They occupy less than 8% of all private sector positions. If they were so great there would be fewer non union jobs than union.

    Dominick253 and jlembie351 Thank this.

Um, interviewing tomorrow at the Taylor, MI terminal, any thoughts?

Never worked union shop, not much of an opinion on them myself

just keep telling yourself that, as you lose money to a bunch of thieves and liars, by your own choice.

I am far from jealous of a union position, yeah you might make more than me, but as MisterG pointed out, when i get a raise its because I earned it, and its a hell of a lot easier to get rid of the lazy jack wagon that wants to milk it and leave everyone else to pick up the slack. You keep your lovely union wage position, and ill keep doing what im going, relishing in the knowledge that I am actually appreciated for my work, and not having to run crying to a union steward because Mr Lazy is screwing everyone else over.

The guys I've talked to in mn don't recommend it. I've talked to three ltl teamsters in the last couple weeks and all three have said the union doesn't do anything for them anymore. In fact they're facing a pension cut and a 15% give back. I don't have any first hand experience so keep that in mind.. Just relaying the message.

Go down and see what the tm sez, even with the 15% concessions, 5 years in, you will be making 80k a year with free health insurance. Lots of whiny truckers around, union or not. You should have asked them how much they make a year.

We talked about that. I make more hourly and yearly at dayton than yrc, holland, lme, and abf. I get the same vacation and I don't pay health care premiums.
