What kind did you get? If it didnt come with instructions usually you can go to the manufactures website and download them.

when you are checking it make sure that youve got it on 10w not 100w and youll get a more accurate reading, if thats how you had it, then i dunno, if its brand new out of the box it prob bly swings to less than 4w.

did you try dead keying and get about 1 to 1/2 i think the cobras normally 3/4 or less dead key though and swings to 3+

good question... im sure someone will correct me if i am wrong, but i am pretty sure their is no effect on receive, i think the receive is all about how well the signal hits your antenna, i know if you have an SWR of around 4.to 1 you can still receive... a

hA, old thread, sorry.... looking back on it, maybe that radio was intended to be used with an amp.... anyway. The SWR really wont have much of an impact on the Recieve, nothing noticable. its the transmit it has an effect on.

I would just ride with what you got. If your talking to the cars 2-3 seconds ahead of you you'll be fine. No sense in dumping money into a project you might use 2-3 times a year. Just for a road trip? Ride with it.
