A little about myself first, I'm a new civilian life truck driver, I served in the active army for 5 years as a 88M Motor Transport Operator and served in Iraq for a year during my enlistment. Now a days since I got out in January I transitioned over to the national guard and moved back to my home state of North Carolina! It has taken me the better part of 6 months to get my CDL through the army and dmv so I didn't have to go to an academy/school I chose to do the military skills test waiver and finally have my Class A CDL with double, tanker and hazmat endorsement's... I wanted to do the regional position BC it had the most home time available for me BC I'm married and have 2 little boys that need constant attending to stay out of trouble... So now I report in to Schneider at the OC on the 16th of June to begin my orientation to the civilian world of truck driving, I'm looking forward to it and think it'll be a great experience. I've read these forums at least twice by now and know what to expect and to bring and have the right attitude because Schneider is here for my success and not failure. So I'll report back every so often to keep everybody up to date.

Are we even allowed to do referrals on the forums? I thought I remembered reading someplace that we couldn't...I know recruiting is a short ticket to ban-ville.
Best of luck to you. If you were in my area I might could help you out, but you're likely going to be at the Charlotte, nc OC. You're close, roughly 250 miles or more but I'm not up that way often. -

If you already signed on with Schneider there is no referral bonus for anyone. That only applies if someone that hasn't even applied for a position yet gets directed to Schneider beforehand, and then you have to tell them that during the initial application process.

Ohh now I understand, oh well. Thinking about doing this for 6 months to a year and changing to choice program. Right now I'm just getting my experience.

This industry is pretty quick to change. Just make sure you do your research before signing anything. Lots of people sign up for lease op programs. Not very many drivers make it, sometimes it's the fault of the driver but is also because many of the programs aren't written so the driver succeeds...

6 months to a year and then choice? My feelings to soon, very few have the business sense to pull that off, not saying it can't be done, cause it has been, goals are good. 18-24 months and a few hundred thousand miles operating your company truck as if you owned it would be more realistic. Just my .02 pennies
TennMan and Home_on_wheels Thank this. -
That's really why I suggested the op do research prior to signing anything.
I run my company truck as if I owned it. I don't intend to do any lease op programs given the option but having the personal responsibility of caring for the truck as if I owned it gives an idea of what I'd face should I become an o/o when it comes to expenses, freight price and so on.
I'm still quite clueless and wouldn't trust myself to do much past being a company driver for now.
Confusing as it is... Know what you don't know so it can become known.91B20H8 Thanks this.
