Im starting with TruckMovers next week but not sure If I want to do singles with my tow vehicle or move piggyback.

What are the pros and cons of both? Which will make more money?

I have moved singles before for my own repo company with a toad which is great because I pretty much have a rolling storage building with all my cloths, tools and other junk. What I really need help with is what to carry with me If I decide to do piggyback. (tools, supplies, etc) Flying is definitely a ##### as it is, what do I carry as luggage where all my stuff will fit and how many bags are necessary. Do I put cloths and personals in one bag a check a bag of tools?

I been an over the road driver for some time, so being on the road isn't new to me but driving, taxiing and flying in combination is a whole new ball game for me.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Take 2 bags to check (up to 50 pounds) and 1 or 2 smaller bags for carry on. The checked baggage will cost you $60 per flight and that is reimbursed at TM on your flights between loads, but not going to/from home. Running loads that require undecking will make you more money than hub loads and singles, but is a lot more work.

Thanks for the flight info. Do you work for TruckMovers?

I bought the tow rig from TM (about $550 or so), and within a year, trucks were coming into the facility that were not compatible with it. That could be an expensive rabbit hole if that stuff keeps changing.

Also, towing your vehicle behind is a good way to get your windshield chipped/cracked.

I enjoyed the actual driving, and it made it easy that the truck was "the load", but I never felt that TM did a very good job initiating me with the ins and outs of fueling options, maintenance, securing an electrical harness, etc. Once you've signed for the truck, you're basically on your own, so check it over carefully before signing.

Also, they make you join ALL the frequent flyer programs, even tho they have no intention of EVER flying you anywhere. That was just weird.

Joining the FF programs is more for the deck drivers, they fly them back to pickup more trucks.

Ok, I've worked for TruckMovers for over a year now. I'll give it 50 percent good, 20 % okay and 30 % horrible. I've enjoyed going to many new destinations. Meeting new people and having a pretty good time.
This company is all about profit, theirs and nobody else's. They don't care what you think, or how you feel, on how they go about making more money. Sometimes they even cheat you to get ahead. So, why am I still here? Maybe it's because I enjoy torture? Actually I always enjoy a good game of chess and with this company you can be very profitable if you make the right moves, drive at the right times, and learn what loads to take and which ones to avoid.
The dispatchers will tell you what they think you want to hear, and the load planners don't care. It's all about their profit and how they make it has nothing to do with you.

I completed my application with Truckmovers.com today. I just got my new medical card today. I am also going down to Laredo to start with Quality Drive Away on October 27th. I live in San Antonio, Tx. I was working in the oilfield for a few years. What is the average length of haul? The Truckmovers recruiter spoke about lots of trucks need to be moved within Texas and it's gonna get busy this time of year. I have never done drive-away before. I don't have a tow vehicle yet.

If I get a good local job I was thinking about just moving trucks once in a while for extra money but right now I just need to work as much as possible to catch up on the bills.

    Thanks.

Hardly ever here positives about these types of companies. Seems like it'd be an interesting and fun gig if the companies weren't always trying to hang the driver out to dry. Wish you luck though, stay safe.

I just passed my written tests for passenger and school bus endorsements. Now I need to find a school bus for the road test.

If I start drive away I'll let Yall know how its going.
