    Hello All,
I have heard that there is some sort of test available to run an engine through to judge whether a retrofitted DPF is good idea or not.

I talked to the ARB myself and they said only installers run these tests. Is that true?

Does anyone here have 1998 International DPF on their engine? If so, how well does it run and has there been any problems?

Thanks in Advance for your replies.

    It might help if you specified which engine (e.g, 11.1, 12.7, or 14.0 DD60, M11, N14, 3306, 3406, etc.

I have never heard of this test you speak of, You might be refering to the data log which basically measures heat in the the exhaust to determined what size of filter is required.

Yea that sounds familiar but do owner operator run that test themselves or do I have to take it to a Retrofit Installer for them to do that test and determine the filter?

The retrofit installer will drill a hole in your exhaust(bottom of the engine) and put a probe in it. It comes with a memory data logger which will record for 2 weeks. After that they will download on a computer what your temps where averaging and that will determind what size filter you will need. Base on what your saying that you have a 400, your gonna need a R-40 DPF. Im running the R-50 on a CAT and Im not running it stock.

Update: So, I have chosen a place to go get my 1998 International Truck retrofitted. However, I wanted
find out if this sensor testing works and really tells you if the truck can handle a retrofit DPF. Have any of you done this process before? Do you happen to have the same Truck and Engine as mine (Recall)
    Detroit Diesel Series 60
    Model Year: 1998
    Engine Family: YDDXH12.7EGL
    HorsePower: 400

and went through this process? Is there anything I should be absolutely aware of?

OR if this question has been answered before by, another chicken such as myself, can someone link me to that post/thread please?

Thank you in advance for your response. I greatly appreciate it.
