Hit a Schneider egg one,,hauling wide loads I have had to slow down to about 5 MPH in some construction zones.
As far as the regs go,,don't think they say anything about hitting or knocking over cones etc , I am sure that somewhere is the regs it says you are not supposed to hit anything,

You don't want to hit them. They are filled with snakes, spiders, and evil clowns. That's why you see some people going 20mph under the speed limit; they know how bad it can get letting that stuff loose.

The trick is to run over the base without hitting the barrel. ;)

I drive through a bunch of construction zones and many many times I have hit a few barrels because they were placed in the lane. I stopped once to get one unstuck from the truck and another time I was pulled over because I dragged one a mile and a half without knowing I had it under the lift axle of the truck. The cop wasn't too smpyathetic until I pointed out that his city has a strict ordenance about construction and he needs to call a building codes supervisor out to that zone to fine them, not me. The last time - Thursday - I had hit a cone which flew into my lane from the other lane, they put them out to move a machine and it was almost into the center of that lane,

I had the same thing happen to me in Phoenix. Freaking idiots don't know it is a truck route"
Did that with an off tracking trailer down in NM one time. Barrel last seen in right side mirror flying through the air away from the roadway.:biggrin_25524:

Saw a guy in Ontario with a big moose bumper punt a half dozen or so about 50 feet into the ditch .. I asked on cb what the heck he was doing he said the ( bad word) will set the cones up straight the next time and that he would rather hit it with bumper than side skirt

Was sitting in the safety office when the director takes a call from a construction company in Ohio. Seems a co truck had knocked over a long stretch of cones. Because of barrier walls etc the cones were all laying in the lane of travel. He had to call out his crew to reset them and was going to bill the company. Safety guy says standard practice if verifiable by trk/trlr number. It was.....
