Out east, where the chain seems to be most established, regular coffee has a little milk and a little sweetener.
I seldom go to a Dunkin Donuts. But the coffee I got at one in Brooklyn was like I just said.
Petro seems to be what they do if they are going for the 24/7 restaurant, and the nearby TAs mostly aren't 24/7 and more of them are going to chains like Popeyes. Popeyes seemstobe under the Subway umbrella. The location at DeForest(north Madison), WI has been changed from a Country Prde to a Popeyes and Subway
The TA at Albert Lea ,Mn went company from locally heldand was changed to Petro, and the restaurant is now open along with a couple of fast food that run less hours. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about hours of operation, but any Petro is trying to keep the late night traffic to compete with other 24 hour operations, and also as a service and the TAs of the corporation are trying to increase profitability. There are exceptions to the TA practices but not at any Petros that I have seen;.
Effingham was pushing the TA customers to other outlets, even a few years ago, which was about the last time I was by there. -
There are also some local restaurants at that exit. One of them is the Firefly Grill. I would like to try it (and the others) one day.
If you want a great sit down meal in Effingham I would suggest parking at the Petro and walking across the bridge to Niemerg's Steakhouse. -
The Firefly is nice ( expensive) but has a great steak and a good crowd. TGIF,s is good, too.
Why limit yourself to the Iron Skillet?
Plus Dunkin Donuts has great donuts and coffee.
and the Nike store is nice too.
Too bad Alleyoop died, he would have been fun to watch. -
isn't there a hucks off the same exit?

Is that the one with the Panda Express right next to it? All you really need in life is Szechuan Chicken.
TruckDuo and Cranky Yankee Thank this. -
I stopped at the TA in Madison Wi a couple of weeks ago for fuel and a hot meal myself. Only to discover the restaurant gone. I asked one of the clerks where I could get some real food. I found out just up the road, just on the other side of the interstate is a Shell truckstop with a Pine Cone restaurant. Good food, friendly staff and less expensive that Country Pride.
drvrtech77 Thanks this.
