Questions about JB Hunt

It doesn't hurt to ask. All they can say is no.

 

You won't go west of the middle of Texas. JB puts massive amounts of cross country freight on the train now. They are a decent company imo. They have a lot of rules, but nor more than some others. You'll go north and south a lot from there. Their terminals are always clean, and they have bar-b-q's and stuff. I did a western regional for them like 7 or 8 years ago. It was pretty good, lot of 55 speed limit, but that didn't bother me. Back then they didn't pay detention, and you would get hung out at a dock sometimes all friggin day, that part sucked. I think they do detention now. They have team regionals that pay ok. They would fly you to orientation, or to a terminal, no buses. That was real cool.

 

I've talked to a couple guys I regularly run into at my stops and their happy with them, their on the DCS side though.

 

You won't run west I know I work for them now been on a month and quitting in the morning for one my recruiter told me I would start at 50 cents a mile with my 19 years experience I got 41 and I got my first check I called my fleetmanager to correct the mistake he told me top pay is 42 cents so off the bat if I known I wouldn't make the 50 cents I would have never taken the job and point 2 the 62 mph trucks are just to slow for me I think it's more of a hazard than anything to drive that slow and lot of rules and restrictions and also they love to leave you sitting on weekends with no load and no layover pay company policy no layover pay on weekends Monday to Friday only. I had enough of my jb hunt experience you probably could work at a fast food joint and make more there than you could at jb hunt my advice if you do work for jb get on a dcs account or intermodal otr for them is bad 10 percent of jb revenue comes from otr so what does that tell you the main money comes from intermodal 70 percent and 20 percent from dcs .best of luck to any one who goes to drive for jb hunt oh and no apu they do provide a bunk heater tho but in summer you can idle for the a/c but forget about a bonus .

 

What is DCS? Do they have intermodal local?

 

Dcs is dedicated contract service means like your dedicated to a customer like target for example and yes they have intermodal that will be your best deal if you want to work with jb
