    I am currently looking for a new Career and I was wondering how the team driving thing works? My BF has been driving solo for about 15 years and since my factory job is getting shipped to Mexico I have been considering getting my CDL. My question is there a way for us to become team drivers with me have no experience?

    Yes, absolutely, go for it at some local CDL school in the meantime have him talk to his company, if they have team drivers that is, then you might be able to have him hone your skills, or you get another person to do that, then you 2 team.

    good luck, as the money you BOTH earn, stays in one house..!!

    His company doesn't offer team driving. He was thinking about finding a good company that does while I'm waiting for the ax to drop at work and getting my training. Any suggestions?

    I'd let him navigate those waters. With 15 years experience, he should be able to figure out which companies are good and which ones aren't.

    He is trying but doesn't have any team experience so I was just doing my own research as well. Also, I was wanting to find out if it was even worth getting my CDL if we clouldnt drive together.

    Well at first sight, if your company let's you go, you'll have that back up plan already in place. you can work days. school nights, or weekends. No need to tell anyone about it either, as this can force thier hand in letting you go sooner.

    There are numerous trucking companies out there that team, have your BF do the searching, AND make that move so he is all set up to take you on as a team driver.

    Maybe you'd want a company that gets you by your house on a regular basis, someone can recommend that if you at the very least, give out where you live (state).

    I live in southern IL but out oldest to girls are going to college in northern Alabama so being able to come close to either place would be a plus but it is not necessary. Our girls are all grown up and only need us for money while they are in college so home time isn't much of an issue but money and Insurance is. Lol

    Ok, but not so much for home time, which I did mention, but I think you'd want a company some what close by your current living area, rather than you move closer to them. Many companies of course allow you to take home the truck for your time off, and you will need to find parking.

    Also, there may be a good number of local companies near you that have teams, which was another reason to at the very least, let us know your location.

    Ah yes, college kids and money. Pizza and Ramen noodle diets.

    I just googled "....central alabama community college cdl...." with the results below.

    September 29
    November 10
    July 6
    August 17

    COST: *$1,200.00 tuition

    Additional Costs: DOT Physical and Drug Screen test (average combined cost $110 - price may vary),* Written test- $25 Learner’s Permit- $ 23 and CDL License- $53

    Items Needed to Register for Class:

    1. DOT Physical Medical long form and card
    2. Drug Test Results (negative results)
    3. Current/Valid Alabama Driver License
    4. Good Driving Record
    5. Must be at least 21 years of age

    Drug Screen results must be dated within 30 days of the start of class.

    No High School diploma or GED required
