Hey people new on this block dey call me DaBigNuttedMan because my last dba was Big Nutted Truk'n.
I'm a heavy wrench and was in the Lo-bed business many years out of Ca, now residing in Indiana, was a big time cummins hot rod, sold and parked my trucks in 93 went to work for some customers of mine in the pipeline business but my job has always been heavy equipment and Truk"n.
Need advice on something maybe one of you has been in this situation.
My pride and joy 79 extended front end KW KTA double over 5+4 is atruck I kept in storage for about 15 years, I couldn't bring my self to sell her so I kept her in Ca in storage.
Well now I live in Indiana and I'm ready to move her out here, I loaded a 40' dry van with my hobby shop equipment, got the truck and trailr road worthy, the trailer is registered in Indiana and titled there, I titled the truck in Indiana but have yet to register it, I realize I have to insure this stuff as well.
Heres my question, and keep in mind I'm not a business owner.
this is my truck my trailer my personel belongings, Im told that I wont need trip permits, only fuel permits as everything is privately owned and nothing to do with the trucking business [load included], but I have to register it [get a plate] well Indiana dont do partial year registration and wants $2'000.00 thats where the trucks title is, I talked to IRP and they say they are commercial only, I don't want to deal with Ca fearing a planned non operation fine there. I cant buy any permits for any thing without registering it and having some kind of licence plate from some where. Any body know a truck licencing agency that are powered by Wizards. thanks...............Randy

Hi Randy and welcome to the forum!
You might want to ask this question under "Experienced Trucker's Advice". That seems to be where a lot of the experienced drivers and truck owners hang out and give their advice. In fact, I saw a question much like this in a thread there a couple of weeks ago. Or you can ask the question in the "Ask an Owner/Operator" forum. Either one will likely get you some attention you need.
Good luck with your situation. -

call bennet motor express they are a driveaway co.that are permmitted and cover all usa. you wont need any thing .they put their driveaway plates on it and buy all permits ,ifta, etc. and all insurance. they can move the tractor with or without trailer. google their name for all info. and quote.they are largest in their industry . be sure to ask them about the cargo in trailer. they move new tractors for penske and freighliner ,dealers, etc.

I've had to get permits and all that junk before but never in detail as what you have. With the truck being so old (and I'd love to drive it) I believe the only place you'll get your answers are from the state. Sorry I couldn't help more.

I'd like to hear more about your truck. When you say 5X4 are you talking about the old twin sticks? And what have you've done to the engine?
