Hey truckdad, how's it goin'? Looks to me like that is a pix of Morro Bay, with Morro Rock in the back ground. Where was that picture taken from?

To catalinaflyer, I'm surprised one of her coworkers hasn't uh "removed the problem" in all these years! She's not only the way she is to the truckers, but also to her fellow DOT cops.

Big D, that was taken around 2005 from a cell tower site that I was supposed to bid on moving a cell building to. Up a miserable steep dirt rd. even in my p.u. Did not get the job but got a view not many will ever see!

I recognize a few of the trucks. Look like Bennettites and LandStarites. What's interesting is the lack of BullDog trucks. Last year it seemed as if BullDog cornered the hub and nacell market.

Moved a 330 CAT today. Had a dang tire on the trailer that kept losing air.

Just wondering... Would it not have been beneficial to order a tri-axle jeep?? Or even the booster?? Or is the extra cost of axles and loads not worth it?? Just wondering I don't do this so I don't really know if there are many loads requiring 12-13 axles..

This is where the "build a trailer by just adding axles" crowd gets themselves in trouble. It sounds so simple to do, but axles mean more GVW, more payload weights mean more forces in action. That's where the simple becomes complex and as you add axles/payload you exceed the trailers capacity, so you now have to build 85ton capacity pieces instead of 65ton when you get up to 13. That adds significant tare weight...oh yeah, and cost! The cost difference from 10 to 13 is around north of $100K...

Yeah I understand completely.. I know you just don't add axles for the sake of adding axles, No point having 5 axles when the trailer can only have a 3 axle payload.. I know the trailer as to be capable of the weight for the intended axles.. Although I don't haul loads like these, I do haul weight.. I have a total of 8 axles on my combination.. I can gross out at 63.5 ton usually up to 40ton.. Tare for my current unit 22 ton (some of the new trucks are up to 23.5ton tare)... With our old steel trailers we had some combinations with 26.5 ton :)

I just wanted sure if the cost of the heavier spec trailer and additional axles was worth the extra cost to order this.. So I suppose not enough loads for 13 axle setups to warrant the extra $100K
