Freymiller - What is their top truck speed?

Thats fine i get paid by the hour and still wont drive a truck governed less then 75 not that i drive fast pretty much do the speed limit anymore but when i need to pass its there and not causing a 10 mile rolling roadblock.

 

Its more then that its a lifestyle and why i got into trucking in the first place which was freedom something that got lost in the past 10 years sure i need to make money but trucking is in my blood and its a shame how downhill its becoming i remember when 70 was considered a slow truck now its a fast truck lol.Its more then money to me i can make money driving for anybody i want my freedom.

 

I hired on with a company that had 60 MPH trucks once. I didn't think that would be a big deal. WRONG!

Move to the left lane to let a car merge, and then find out that same car won't let you merge back, because they want to go 60. Traffic starts piling up behind you quickly. Slow down, the car passes you, and traffic starts going around on the right. With a lot of ticked off drivers.

 

Our freedom in trucking is gone. Out the window. Before long we will all be on elogs. I came into trucking in 03 and had a 78 mph prime truck now look how fast they go.

 

Idk. 40ton truck spewing fire out the stacks sounds pretty freaking metal.

 

Just to put my 2 cents in:

Since the slowpokes want to comment about the money, I need to do some educating math!

We all have 70 hours to work with.
Ideally you use all/most of it weekly.

.40 CPM for a truck set at 75 mph
.43 CPM for a truck set at 65 mph
.45 CPM for a truck set at 60 mph

Now, here's the kicker. Assuming we all take the same breaks, pretrips, etc and drive the same # hours.

65 hours driving a week. Average speeds @ 73/63/58

4745 miles for our #1 Truck -> 1898.00
4095 miles for our #2 Truck -> 1760.85
3770 miles for our #3 Truck ->1696.5

I got the above figures by taking a slightly lower average speed(-2mph) and multiplying them by 65 (driving hours for the week).

As you can see, the fastest truck makes the most money despite making a full .05cpm less than the slowest.
In addition to this the fastest truck would likely be able to get the best loads. Would likely get loaded again faster, and would generally have an easier time making appointments and finding parking places (He'd also get all the chicks, duh.)

There are mitigating factors to consider, but there are so many variables as to be impossible to say for sure what is what. But the bottom line is, even with a 2 cpm fuel bonus the faster truck would still make more, and I don't think you'd hit your bonus flogging your truck at governed speed, so you would indeed make even less money than I stated, where as the faster truck could give a flip about the fuel bonus, he's to busy making bug paste on the windshield and blowing the doors off of Swift, Prime, and Schneider.


I didn't post this to be a jerk, I posted it so that all of you mocking someone for wanting to go faster would understand, speed makes a difference. Also, I'd take a .02 cpm decrease in pay for 3 more MPH on the floor of my truck so I could pass those people going .5mph slower than me without making everyone behind me furious.

 

Well said but you talk to these drivers they love to stick up for they're company policies even though they'd love to drive a truck that could do more then 65mph and talk about the fuel bonus they might get or how they make 1000 a week lol this is why the industry is becoming what it is withelogs,governed trucks,driver facing cameras all for supposed safety but yet most the accidents out there are caused by the so called safety oriented companies like those in the ata its all to try and get rid of the small companies and that can get the load there faster

 

65 for company 70 for lease trucks.

 

100 mph down a hill in neutral, other wise 65 at all other times. On a side point how'd those aussies go that Freymiller hired back in 05 they came over on H2b visas?
