That's true, but it's also a lousy idea to borrow money in order to borrow money.

I would never advise borrowing money to use as a down payment. If you don't have a real down payment, you are not ready to be a business owner.

Remember back before the Clinton administration started strong arming fannie may, freddie mac, and traditional banks into giving home loans to people with les than great freight and little to no down payment? in those days the banks required a minimum of twenty percent down and class A credit ratings. The reason had little to do with the actual down payment and everything to do with the hard work, dedication, and thrifty live within your means lifestyle it took to save twenty thousand dollars. By saving that kinda down payment you learn many lessons that will help you succeed.

Repo and foreclosure rates were a fraction of what they have been since. That just might have something to do with those lessons people learned saving the down payment.

I've been an owner operator the vast majority of my adult life. Trucks will always break. Engines will always need rebuilt. Just last fall I tore mine down and completely rebuilt it from the crank all the way to the injectors. So I know perfectly well the realities of trucking.

Wow tremendous amount of money in a yr. I was an o/o several years ago and it was hard but you needed to sacrifice in order to succeed. In today's market its even harder with most companies pushing there stupid lease programs and uneducated driver's jumping on that lie. No lease will ever benefits a driver just the company. I drive for a great company and make excellent income and 7 more yrs I'll be able to retire.

Lease is what it is . Its the price you pay to learn the business . I blow a motor tomorrow i walk away with my credit intact . I loan and blow a motor i cant walk away from a bank. These days you have companies changing oil at 35000 50000 if your crete. I feel sorry you get 1 of those trucks. They have long intervals when changing oil to cut cost. By time any damage is done that truck sotting on a lot looking for a sucker to buy it.

One of the best trucks that I have ever bought I got from an owner operator who wanted to retire. I bought the truck for less than wholesale. If you are patient, save your money and can finance a truck, you can find good deals. This guy bought the truck new and he was the only driver until I bought it. I would not want to buy a fleet truck. Most have oil change intervals that are much longer than I change my oil. I still change my oil around 15,000 miles. According to some of the oil companies, you should be able to go 25,000 miles or longer with the new lubricants. I tried a new oil that Chevron offered and was told that I could go 60,000 miles between changes. I still changed my oil at 15,000. Some fleets will pull an oil analysis and only change the oil when the viscosity is low. I have never been comfortable going longer on my oil changes. But, I also get a lot of miles out of my equipment. I would rather spend a little more on oil changes than pay for an overhaul. Whether you buy or lease, you are usually responsible for maintenance. It doesn't take much grit in the oil to ruin bearings in a turbo.

G/man,it is fine you feel that way but you are teaching people to throw away good oil.
A "feeling" isn't a proper way to determine how long you can use oil for.
Oil samples are the only way.

I'm the opposite. It's all about lifetime costs to me. I push my oil changes out pretty far. Saving well over ten thousand over ten years. a rebuild is under 3 grand. went twelve years before having to rebuild this engine, and expect ten more till I got to consider doing it again.
