I know it is due to the lower cost of fuel, which is weird since you would have thought a lower cost meant more travel and more money in the pockets of middle class spenders who blow their whole paycheck. I noticed truck stops that used to have three trucks waiting in line to get fuel now have no wait times. Truck stops that have no parking 24/7 have spots available. I dont have truckers flying past me every 15 minutes, and the first time ever in four years I get really light loads that are only 300 miles to travel yet they deliver three days later... Usually the summer is when things are packed, so if this keeps up this winter I suppose there will be hardly any truckers on the road? Or are things busy at your company?

You haven't been to the south lately have you? Unless it's between midnight and 6am, I'm hard pressed to find an open fuel lane...

Things are pretty busy for me, there's a slowdown at Jcp (but that's expected during the summer, come the end of July things will pick up.) because it's a retail chain, but sni still keeps me busy.

I noticed busier truck stops in the winter down here and attributed it to drivers going where the ice and snow wasn't/shouldn't be. So I had expected to see less of that in the summer.

Things are pretty normal as I see them though.

I have a friend at Landstar who's still sitting in Queens because the only work they have is going up to Massachusetts and Maine with no freight coming out. Yes, it's slowed down for quite a bit of people.

I'm owner and comparing my statement from June 2014 and this year I calculate about 70 cents down on average per mile. Usually this time of the year I drive from/to North and South Carolina.Last year the brokers literally bagged me to take a load and every time I asked for 500$,600$ extra depending on the miles. I live in Chicago, but I'm not going home any time soon. Today friend of my get offered for a load Chicago - Atlanta for 800$. He said he will change his company.... but I think the company is not the problem.

I can barely keep up with what my employers want.

I have a full time OTR job with Wolfpak. They're a manufacturer, so I primarily haul insulation. They'll give me broker loads to keep me busy when I deliver loads that aren't close to a terminal. I'm only gone Monday through Friday, but so far this week I'm looking at 25 hours (I'm paid by the hour).

I have a part time job driving a dump truck.

This time of year is when construction starts to pick up.

I can clone myself, have each clone running 3 log books and still not keep up.

I have been to Louisiana and Mississippi a couple times so far this season and your right things seem normal down there. Lately I have been doing mid west and eastern loads and its pretty empty. Feels like Christmas Eve its so empty which I kinda like as long as it doesn't affect my paycheck.

My company is talking about taking away 2 of my stops. Which is fine with me, as I hate each one (downtown Boston, with a 53 footer). This will impact my weekly pay I was told, but not by a whole lot. it will of course reduce my nights from about 8 hours, down to about 6, fine with me too.

Our long hauls have slowed a bit but our regional runs have kept me busy.

freight has slowed the past couple months,,rail intermodal loading are down a little too,,but the big factor in thelast couple years is more freight going more than 600 to 700 miles going to intermodal..
