Load was scheduled for P/U in Laredo-TX on Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm, truck showed up for P/U at 3:00pm. got loaded at 4:15am next morning and there is a time stamp on BOL, delivery was scheduled for Monday 7:00am. Truck got empty at 2:15pm in Atlanta, GA. Broker was notified about all times of loading and unloading time as well as check in calls during the trip. After the load is delivered he didn't want to pay the driver any detention as he explained " that any compensation for detention would come out of his pocket and that is how they work under TQL umbrella".

    1. If that is the worst experience you've had with TQL you ain't seen nuthin' yet !

    2. With TQL, and many other brokerages, you can submit a schedule of rates to put on file with your contract. Make sure to have a representative sign it and return to you. That would include your rate for detention, layover, TONU, etc... If you do not have anything on file you can alternatively write it on the rate confirmation. Without something agreed to beforehand it is difficult to get paid for these things, especially when the broker is a #######. I don't doubt he charged heavily for detention and simply is pocketing the money because he can, TQL is not a multi-billion dollar company because they give away money easily.

    3. This section of the forum is for bad trucking companies, not bad brokerage companies.

Dealing with them is easy, just follow 3 rules, no matter what ...
    1. You never need a load that TQL is trying to sell to you. It doesn't matter if it is the only option to load rather than moving empty.
    2. Only haul something for them if they pay a rate very much to your liking, AND the load picks up within a maximum radius of your current location. Mine happens to be about 60 miles.
    3. NEVER move towards the shipper city before you have that second paper they send with the actual address and shipper name and actual address and receiver name in your hands. No "favors" for moving in the direction until you have that paper. If it is a "hot load" for whatever reason, that is not your fault, if they really want you moving that way then you tell them this stipulation and it's take it or leave it.

You will catch them with their pants down eventually. Play their own game against them.

Always charge extra money when working with them. They almost always give false information, they will call you at all hours of the day. We actually prefer to deadhead then pull loads for them. Have hardly ever had one of their loads go without a hitch. Now they are trying to move into the hopper side of things as well.

Just start leaving. If they don't want to pay to wait, then leave.

One of my main brokers has gotten pretty stingy with detention this year since trucks are easy. This is exactly what I told my contact, you don't want to pay then after 2 hours I leave. I actually followed through with my threat within a week. My time is valuable.

Been doing that for years, after the two hours if they don't want to send a revised rate sheet purchasing at least 5 hours. They get the load back and we go pick up another one. Power to the Trucker

And this all happens because we are a dime a dozen out here. TQL is going to keep on doing it unless you maybe put your balls on the table. We aren't worth anything now in this industry sadly. I wish they went out of the business but it'd be the other way around if I hauled for them frequently.
