Finally some progress on my generator set up.

He was still sizing up the mount on the frame when I took these pics. The boxes are almost done,.. just some minor things and they will be complete.

The main generator box will have hydraulic arms and notches in the sleeve so the box can be held open like it is now for normal ventilated operation of the generator like it is in the pics,.. or fully up right so I can service the generator.

    .

The smaller box is for the fuel cans. It will have a removable shelf in the middle for two 2.5 gal plastic cans and a door opening on the front. It will fit in front of the generator box.

    Nice....!

You and Danny have both come up with way above average solutions to the truck mounted generator application and may be in danger of losing your redneck status unless compensating elsewhere.....

I would suggest using a rubber type shelf liner on the bottom of the fuel can compartment. An electrician friend wore out the bottom of one plastic can in just under a year from the friction caused by the can sliding slightly while underway. Three years now since installing rubber shelf liner and no more issues....

An example of the liner I have in mind, but available all over for cheap....

Thats what happens when a Yankee moves to Fla.

However, you havent seen the window shelf mount for the window AC yet. :D

Danny has a roof mount for an RV style AC. Much more professional looking in my opinion than what I will be doing. I will be lugging a window AC from the top bunk to the window every time I stop for the night.

Between my headache rack and condo roof,.. a redneck style window mount is my only real option. I dont want to cut open my sleeper. This is about as clean and professional as I could do it. At $5 a night,.. it should pay for itself in no time at all and I expect to see a healthy % improvement in my annual net profits.

As for that mesh roll,.. already have that. I've been using that in my battery box as well as inside the cab and sleeper. I have it between the microwave and fridge and even have some cut out and laying on my dash where I lay my cel phone and clipboard so they dont slide around.

Also have it in all my shelves to keep stuff from sliding and rattling inside. They dont call them freight shakers for nothing. I spent the better part of 6 months working on solutions to quiet down the inside of the truck. I cant stand all the rickety noises going down the road. I want to be able to enjoy my stereo at a reasonable volume.

Napa or other autoparts stores sell those hydraulic lift pistons off the rack. Put two of those suckers on and you can launch a can of Bud 60'

Should be able to test out the whole set up today. Heat and humidity have been brutal here, I think it will be a good place to know how well this will cool the sleeper or not.

Between the AC and a fan, I think it should be more than enough to cool it down. If the 8000 isnt enough, I'll take it back and put a 12k BTU in the window. I've been running the Frigidaire here in the bed room and its much better then the cheap Haire I normally use in here. Bedroom is 24x16 and I have been very comfortable in here. I'll know today if its going to be enough or not.

Got everything working today. Tested it out and heck yeah,.. during the heat of the day took it from hot and humid down to almost chilly inside. I forgot to pick up one of those digital thermometers,.. sorry,.. you'll just have to take my word for it. It was well below 70f inside,.. I laid down in the sleeper and didnt want to get up. It was nice.

8000 BTU Frigidaire with dehumidifier works perfect. I am extremely happy.

Some update pics for mine. I'm at the 95% mark on my set up. Just gotta get some of those pads for the bottom of the fuel box, get a leveling block for the window rack so the AC sits level with a slight tilt toward outside. Get some pad locks and I can call it a day!

This is how it will be all closed up.

This is the arm to hold the box open while its running. I can put a pad lock in this position, go in and get a shower and come back to a nice cool truck.

Then fully open so I can check oil and service it if I need.

There ya have it. If you guys can afford it,.. I highly recommend the Honda EU3000IS. Its so smooth and quiet,.. you have no idea its on while inside the sleeper. Its so much quieter than I thought it would be. Anyone who has one can back me up on this,.. its probably 75% quieter than any diesel APU out there today.

The truck had been baking in the hot Fla sun,.. humidity was above 75%,.. I was drenched in sweat. Cranked up the generator,.. set the AC down to 65. It had the sleeper chilly inside of 10 - 15 mins. I laid down in the bunk and didnt want to get up. It was that nice and cool inside.

Oh,.. and I tested it while in econo mode. Generator didnt even hickup,.. nice low idle with the AC cranking full blast.
