Vavega, man I'm telling you I really entertained the thought today maybe more than what I should have... But until Schnieder says no I'm going to keep practicing and every once in awhile grinding the gears for the mechanics to have to fix later on.

First and for most thank you for your service.
Don't quit and don't go auto, you can get it just keep at it. Your instructor is right by not wanting to send you out yet (wish more were like that). Sounds like an alright guy and will help you. Be confident and hold ur chin up.
Normally my shifts are smooth as butter but like everyone I have off days. In fact I killed my truck today and after my initial frustration I got a Lil giggle out of it -
After some talking to by close family and reading these posts, tomorrow is a new day and going to be a better day. Me and the truck are going to have a nice sit down conversation and build the bond between us and we're going to make this work and happen. Confidence is key! Thank you everybody for the support and encouragement, I'll get back to y'all tomorrow.

I'll add one more piece of advice. You only need to push the clutch in around an inch depending on the truck. I used to tell new drivers to kick the clutch instead of pushing the clutch.

I'll add one more piece of advice. Use your finger tips on the shifter. Don't try to force the handle into position.

Drive it like you stole it. Just kidding. I bet that after you "get it." You will excel as a driver and someday be considered a top hand. You get what you put into it. Good luck and many safe miles.

Here's a tip so you never miss a down shift. Just rev it up as high as you can while you're in neutral trying to shift down. You hit the fuel to rev the rpm in say, 9th gear, that breaks the torque and puts you in neutral. then, you rev it up as hard as you can, like just stomp on the pedal all the way to the floor and get those RPM's as high as possible. While the rpm's are falling, you push the stick gently up against the gear you want to down shift into. you will feel the hole opening up as your rpm's fall to the correct range. Gently apply pressure to that hole as if your hand is paralyzed, you'll feel the stick pop into gear.
