I wonder if these could be scaled up in size, how they would fare over traditional tires: http://www.musclehorsepower.com/airless-tire-goes-into-production-the-future-is-here/

Well, eventually it may be an idea. My first impression is that the rolling resistance would be pretty nasty, but it could have potential.

What I wanna know is how the hell do so many nails end up in tires? You'd think the chances of one falling into a crack and facing up would be slim, yet it happens all the time (and you'd think people would step on them all the time, then, somehow they just end up in a tire).

Getting all the heat dissipated [that high speeds will generate] is going to be the biggest issue to deal with. I think they will figure it out, but for now this will be limited to lower-speed vehicles.
Maybe some select Prime trucks will be able to run the early prototypes.Last edited: Jun 20, 2015

Tires are nail magnets. Like I'm a magnet for crazy broads.Sneakerfix Thanks this.

I agree, tires are magnets for nails.... I was a property manager at a property and there was rehab work going on... I picked up a nail in my NEW ( less than 100 miles) rear motorcycle tire... Needless to say, after screaming a few expletives; I spoke calmly with the contractor who cut me a check for a replacement tire.

Ok...., How to install the balance beads...?
Run through mud, snow, freezing rain...., park for the night.
Pretrip.... thump tires.... Ooops, chip, scrape, rinse debris from between cool looking spokes. OR, head on down the road... thump again, thump again all the way home....
