was woken up thurs nite, (6/18 ), by an NC dot cop.
he informed me that they are patrolling and enforcing the no parking on ramps law,due to a complaint from some business owner on I-77.

the owner has pull and he complained to his politician buddies about the trucks on his exit ramp.
the cop was real nice and said if I was out of hours he couldn't force me to move, just take this as a warning.
I was on I-85 near Greensboro,nc, there had been a wreck and I was running close on the logs,so I picked a favorite ramp.
oh and I won't be buying any of their products, ever!
feel free to leave a comment on their site. I sure did.

I know out of all the Law Enforcement Officers out there 10% don't belong on the job and I think that holds true for every profession. Anyways thanks for commenting on how the encounter was how nice this officer was. I just seemed to noticed we are vilified a lot. Yes I am a trucker now but also hold an automatic state certification as a constable for retiring after my years of service.
jammer910Z and Numb Thank this. -
It's a good idea to keep trucks from parking on ramps. It's a dangerous practice, even more so when they turn their lights off.
-
I agree it's not the best practice, but until DOT addresses the lack of adequate parking on the big roads for trucks it'll never be an ended practice. Undoubtedly it will start to force more tired drivers to keep rolling to try and find a spot. Georgia and Louisiana are also bad about writing these tickets. By my own experience a few years ago...don't get this ticket in Georgia drivers. You'll regret it tremendously

Hope you're not holding your breath waiting for them to do something like fix it lol

Lol hell would freeze over first.
It just kills me that all of these enforcements are always done in the name of "safety" yet any thinuking person can clearly see it's all done for the revenue. It's always easily done to truckers since we're rich I guess. Always have disposable income -
This one is a safety issue though. It's the one enforcement deal I can get behind. I know it's probably an unpopular opinion, but you put yourself at so much risk for parking on a ramp.Jumbo Thanks this.

I agree with this one to a certain extent. As long as it's out of the city area I really don't see it as a problem to locals and the particular businessman from this article. Dangers are all around us on a daily in a big truck. If a drunk or fool decides to play Russian roulette with an ICC then more power to him. It's really no different than happening at a stop sign or red light.

True. But parking on a ramp we open ourselves up for an insane amount of liability. CFI was sued for $18 million and they lost because of an accident by a drunk driver hitting their truck on a ramp.truckon Thanks this.
