Hey guys, anyone have any experience doing garbage? its roll off and automated side load (so residential solo pickup I'm guessing)
Debating on OTR vs Local position at the moment, don't know anyone that has done garbage to ask.
Anyway, if anyone has done something similar if you wouldn't mind giving me a rundown of how it was/works/whats involved in the position that would be awesome.
Thanks ahead of time.

Prepare to smell like garbage all day, every day. Eff that... lol
unloader and D33RHUNT3R Thank this. -
We used to call it, "getting juiced", and it ain't pretty nor smells pretty.
The person you sleep with, may in fact order you to the couch or outside in the hammock. And if you do not have a hammock, I seriously suggest you get one. No amount of scrubbing or bleach will totally get rid of your garbage smell.
One day when I got home and got undressed, maggot's were in my t-shirt and work shirt pocket in my eye glass case. -
I thought about it... until I found out that the City of El Paso only pays their employees $13.65/hour for that crap. They seem to think it's the hours (0400-1430, Tu-F) that cause the turnover.

He drove front loaders and roll off. He started at 3am six days a week, but home every night. Now he's the manager.
Roll offs will do about 2-3 loads a day to the dump. The side load is residential. Longer tedious day. And republic and waste management are putting cameras in all trucks. But money is not bad for a local job he said.
But good luck in what you decide. -
Garbage.. No thanks, sounds like, ummm garbage..

But in some parts of the country, doesn't surprise me a 6 or 7 day work week, due to the amounts of residential garbage. -

Roll off is good work, if the shop is good. Did it for better than 7 years, pulling a pup. 6-15 cans a day, pickup, dump, deliver. The trash compacters (the ones chained to the packers on the back of buildings) are the worst, have to clean up the mess before you can hook it back up. As for smell? Roll off isint as bad. Demo waste smells but rairly maggots. Yea the food store dumpsters stink, but most arnt bad.
But i wouldnt want to do front load or side. Tried em, hated it. -
