Hubby says they til him the pay was for orientation & next week will be pay for 3 days securement training & the week with the trainer. Thought they didn't pay for orientation! Ugh! They are in Knoxville right now, headed to Chicago. Yesterday he said they were going to MN. I can't keep up! I am still trying to figure out why my hubby chose this company! It wasn't his only option! I hope your weekend run is a good one, & everything runs smoothly!

I thought WE was strictly for rehab....why would anybody choose these guys if you had other options...

I suggest you intervene and insist he go elsewhere..other than a mega company.

Maybe things have changed a bit. They did not pay for orientation when I started and they do pay for the 3-day securement...$70 per day, as I recall. And I think he gets $500 a week while on the trainer's truck. As is the case with other companies, what kind of mileage he gets when he's on his own depends on his DM and the planners. My first one sucked; the second on, one of the Ops managers, is much more in-tune with what I want...and I run the miles when I get them. That's why he picked me when they "made some changes" a few weeks ago. And it's why I have this weekend run; the managers work every other weekend and this is his 'on' weekend.

I would have tried Boyd if I could have. TMC is good, too, but he would have to like a very strict, almost military environment...but they do flatbedding right.

    When did this happen?

Why do drivers do this? The guy next to me is from a company that provides each truck with an APU. Assuming his works, why in the world does he idle while he's sitting? If it's inop, why idle while he's inside taking a shower and eating for 45 minutes?

We are a weird bunch, us drivers.

I was not happy with his decision! wE was not even on our list! He was at Osborn/Celadon for about 6 weeks. They knew upfront he had a speeding ticket a personal vehicle in Feb (he til every company he applied at before Celadon & after). It showed up on his MVR a few days before he was due to take his final road test. Safety go said they had to let him go. Nice. They have now changed their application & company policy. Our 2 yo & I drove 8 hours or so to Indy to get him because they wouldn't/couldn't get him on a plane or bus. The recruiter was really nice & very helpful from the first time he talked to her. She got us $360 for gas & food. We stopped in Nashville to have a break & spend some time together with our girl.
His top choice was McElroy in Cuba, AL. They're about 2-2 1/2 hours from here. They were very thorough on checking previous employers, background, etc. They wouldn't have a definite answer until Wednesday. WE called on Monday & told him they'd get him on a bus Tuesday & they had flatbed. All we gained from him taking the WE off is is $53.69. I believe McElroy paid all through orientation, training & securement $500 a week. He said the recruiter from McElroy said to call if things don't work out at WE.. We'll see. I think they also have guaranteed weekends off & a minimum weekly pay. He is working for his 6 or 12 months so so can get on where his ex's husband works. This whole thing has been quite the experience.
