My cobra 29
I have the exact same problem with my cobra 29 lx. The external speaker amplified the alert signal while I was driving by the Rochester, NY Airport.. I almost ran into an oncoming car trying to turn the radio off. Since this occurred two weeks ago, I have had a constant ringing in my left ear. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW! The fix should come directly from Cobra. At the very least there should be a recall.
Crazy high pitch ring, with CB off.

Cobra 19 LTD
Cobra 19 LTD II
Cobra 19 XS
Cobra 25 WX NW ST
Cobra 29 LX
Cobra 148 NW ST
Galaxy DX 939
Galaxy DX 979
Midland 1001z
Stryker SR-955HP (currently in use)
Uniden PRO 520XL
That's just what's in the truck...I have a Cobra 29 NW LTD and a Uniden PC78 Elite waiting for me to pick them up at Q5 Communications...and I have a Cobra 19 DX IV and 2 Midland 13-861s at home. That's 17 radios in total. And hopefully in the next couple weeks I'll be picking up a Uniden Trucker PTC-104 radio. -
1-Whay so many?
2- Have you heard the high pitch noise on all of them? -
1 - just because. It's my vice, I love these things.
2 - only on the 25 WX NW ST and the 29 LX. As others have mentioned, it's a weather alert, and those are the only radios I currently have with that feature. The 25 sounds it off full blast regardless; on the 29, it can be turned down with the regular volume control.EndHatred Thanks this.
